The current West Coast rap scene is host both to artists who revel in the region’s hip-hop history and acts that take a different, often more hipster-friendly approach to the genre. East Oakland native Yukmouth clearly falls into the former camp; on the lead single off his latest LP, he proclaims with pride, “I’m A Gangsta.” As the self-proclaimed “West Coast Don” makes clear in his rhymes, however, his version of the gangsta lifestyle involves rocking expensive clothes, picking up fly women, and having a good time at the local club. In addition to handling hook duties, Ray J steps into the spotlight for a guest verse which finds him describing one epic night out (complete with weed, liquor, women, and even a little X), and Booth favorite Crooked I‘s hard-hitting lyricism ends the record on a high note. Featuring a midtempo, synth-driven instrumental by The Slapboyz, I’m A Gangsta is slated to appear on Yuk’s long-delayed fifth LP, due out May 5th via Smoke-A-Lot/Asylum.

I'm Baaaack!
Man, that front page picture is hilarious, haha. I wasn't into this one as much as I should have been. Yukmouth has a mad flow on here, but Ray didn't really hold it on the song though. This may work though, who knows. |

This was decent. The production was good and Yukmouth started the song out pretty good. I wasn't feelin the hook too much, though it could grow on me. Ray J's verse was decent and Crooked I brought fire on the back-end.

OK so i think puttin Ray J on the track they should of just kept him in the the hook caue i dont mind the hook but his verse cant compete with the other two.
Its still a hard track i like it. |

The beat is solid and is a nice play in the whip. Yukmouth is pretty good and has a nice flow. Whats up with Ray J's vocals on the hook they sound weird either way its an average hook. Crooked I was fire at the end this is a good track

This track is cool but it kinda lacks somethin for me. The production is pretty cool, but nothin captivating. The hook is aight, but parts of it sound a little too distant/distorted to me. I like both verses from Yuk and Crooked I, but the subject matter of the entire song is just boring and tired.

Man, Slapboyz did their job with the catchy beat.
I can't help but be disappointed in both Yuk and Ray J, as Crook outshined BOTH artists (no surprise there). However, I have a rule: You can't get outshined on YOUR OWN SH*T. |

this could be potential hit, however it they have to remaster it, change a hook a bit', because it's annoying, and leave spitting verses to yuk and crooked.

Ray-Js verse should not have been on here. Other than that, its a solid track. The beat is fire, but im not feelin the hook. Crook and Yuk are both solid. In rotation

The production is catchy and they sound good, anyway I like the verses more than the hook, which is kinda mediocre. And that's why I wouldn't put this in my mp3 player
