From the Epic of Gilgamesh in the 18th century BC to Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theories in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, humans throughout history have sought to uncover the secrets behind their Dreams. On his latest single, DMV repper and Diamond District member yU carries on this illustrious tradition, momentarily setting aside the philosophical street style for which he’s known in order to tunefully reflect on his quest to understand the visions of success flitting through his unconscious mind—and , of course to bring them into reality. The artist backs his lyrical reveries with an appropriately mellow beat, and singer Danedra Rowell provides assistance on the vocal tip. Dreams will appear, along with B-side Prior Days, on a limited edition 7” vinyl single scheduled for release this Tuesday (but shipping now via Mello Music Group).
