Mike Dreams - This My Jam
Artist: Mike Dreams
Producer: The Edator
Album: Counting Sheep Series (Week 9)
Label: MUSIC2DREAM2
Those who haven’t set foot in the North Star State might be surprised to hear that, though our winters are about as frigid as you would expect, Minnesota also boasts some absolutely beautiful (if occasionally sweltering) summer weather. On This My Jam, installment #9 in his Booth-exclusive Counting Sheep series, Young Son calls upon a few local talents to craft a fittingly breezy soundtrack to long, lazy summer days in the Mini-Apple. First to flow over The Edator‘s mellow, synth-driven instrumental, Young Son comes with all the amicable, wordplay-driven lyricism fans have come to expect. Cay-Riss brings a bouncier feel to the track’s middle section, and Slink Proper blazes the back end, switching up the flow with an energetic closing verse. Complete with a smooth hook by R&B singer and MUSIC2DREAM2 team member Christina (who will appear on Young Son’s forthcoming LP), this record is a shoo-in for summer-jam mix-CD rotation. Young Son’s weekly series will conclude next Tuesday, June 9th; watch for his DJBooth.net & DJ Advance-hosted Counting Sheep mixtape to hit our front page a week later, on the 16th. Dreamer’s Poetry, the emcee’s second studio album, is scheduled to follow in mid-to-late summer.

I have a feeling people will be saying two things after this one.
1) "This My Jam" 2) Minnesota has some talent, baby. |

Not gonna lie I've been hoping for a faster paced cut from MH even though I'm a fan of the 'spilling thoughts through the pen' with the poetic style he usually brings. This was right what I was hoping for, and he still held it down with the lyrics.

"This my jam like peanut butter's brother."
I'm always lookin out for metaphors. That one, my friend, is pretty tight. MH you got a lot of talent man. For real. This beat had some good energy and enabled the artists to sound great on it. Everyone had a solid contribution. To be honest here, this is real close to "My Bus Ride Home" and might even pass it as my favorite in the series after a couple of listens. |

Oh! Yes, Its that day of the week again ....
When it comes to creating different moods for different topics, Welcomes in Young Son to create a musically sound longplayer ... None fail to step up, & all features do an admirable job of keeping up with the high standards set by YS himself ... the beat stand on its own as the instruments change up a lot & the track itself flows extremely well ... I'll give this full stars as my big homie @FredRico says "it might not be a CLASSIC but it sounds FLAWLESS to me" ... |

This is dope I think it's missin a lil something just a lil something. (Maybe it's me ) nahh I think it should have been fuller with adlibs or more music added I don't know, but for the most part I mos def give it 4 stars because other than whatever it is that is missing the track is definitely sick

Not really feelin this either... probly one of my least favorite songs from Young Son. No doubt you have talent, but somethin about this production wasn't entertaining or pleasant to listen to. Bus Ride Home is still on top for me.

ok this is starting to get out of hand. Seriously young son, you have yet to put something out that I did not thoroughly enjoy. From front to back, every track you put out is fire bro. Keep the poetry coming man, excellent stuff.

Well now, this is very good, very good (I just listened to "every girl" and I'm in a sour mood). Above solid and everyone tore this up. Huge props to YS for this (damn this makes me think Sotta is the shit).
This is def. my jam, without a doubt. |

This is one of my top three tracks from MH so far... but I can't yet decide where it falls, it's great though. MH lays it down as usual, the production and hook are catchy, and the features are great. Big ups to Minnesota from your next door neighbors (stand up WI)!
