Mike Dreams - Success Is...
Artist: Mike Dreams
Producer: Groundwork
Album: Dreamer's Poetry
Label: MUSIC2DREAM2
On the newly-released buzz single off his forthcoming sophomore LP, Dreamer’s Poetry, up-and-coming emcee and DJBooth member Young Son makes one thing very clear: the dreams he’s talking about aren’t the kind you have when you fall asleep. In fact, these dreams are the kind that keep you up at night—how can one rest when “Success is… but a breath away”? Inspired by “late-night 8-hour [recording] sessions after 8 hours of working,” as well as by Drake‘s recently-released So Far Gone mixtape, the record gives listeners a rare glimpse into the superhuman grind of indie artists everywhere. Groundwork‘s piano-driven instrumental serves as a fittingly pensive backdrop to the Minneapolis native’s low-key confidence as he meditates on the rewards that will make all the sleepless nights worthwhile. Listeners itching to hear more of this Dreamer’s Poetry won’t have to wait till the album’s June 9th drop date—in early April, Young Son will be partnering with this very site to kick off Counting Sheep… A Countdown to Dreamer’s Poetry, an eight-week series of previously-unreleased cuts that will be available for streaming and free download exclusively at DJBooth.net.

Not bad at all, though the production got old pretty quick because nothing went on except for the repetitive piano keys. Young Son sounded good, though.

The beat is simple but it sounds good and his lyrics are pretty good. Pretty simple production overall but the hook is pretty hot! I can throw this in rotation

MH always brings the lyricism to his songs. I urge everyone to listen to this song AT LEAST twice before rating, you might catch a few sick lines that you didn't hear the first time! Stay on your grind MH, Success Is... for ya.

Young Son is the truth!
I completely believe in this guy because it's like we actually "know" him from djbooth! I know he loves real music and that's exactly what he delivered on this one: no gimmicks! Beat is exquisite (on a Kanye’s 808s and CRS' “Us placers” level)! Flow was exactly what the beat asks for and lyrics were introspective poetry. The hook was HOT and you were NOT off-key MH (like 95% of the rappers)! lol, Come on, who you think you are? ;) |

I wanna start by sayin the vocals/flow are great. I would like it better over different production. The beat does create an introspective/pensive vibe, but it gets annoying with the repetition. Still the vocals and flow make it a solid track.

I've worked with the dude for a long time now and I can see his creativity vastly expanding in his lyricism. I think the instrumental needs a little work mainly because of the constant repetition but the lyrics are on point 100 percent.

Success review:
Lyrics - Solid as usual. Nice wordplay, and I can see your rhymes are improving with each release. It is nice to hear that you are incorporating more of your life into your lyrics. What I mean is, this a very personal flow. Success is usually accomplished after mad discpline, so you can hear the discpline in each verse on this track. For you to to discuss this process is a very private and personal one. Production - This track by Groundwork is fyah. Am I the only one who hears the soothing and grooving 808? This piano sounds like the one from the Alchemist, a track he produced for Prodigy called Keep it thoro on the HNIC album. I love that track that Alchemist did; but this one has a different feel too it, it is not repetitive, it is just as much repetitive as A Milli. The difference maker on this track is the 808. Technical - Sounds like the mastering on this album will be better than the last one. This was a pretty decent sounding track, the levels were on point, and not a lot bad tech stuff. Overall this was a good track. Nice one. |

Im mad how the same people keep up the unnapreciative comments, every single day. I think some of yall just come on here and hate on the dedication and hardwork some of these artists put in.
SOLID flow....SOOO surprised to see MH representin' Sure the beat is a bit repetitive, but its what Mr. Hannah here has done with it that really helps to make it better. Keep On Grindin, Son... |

XxXxDaTruthXxXx, thanks yo. It's all good though. DJBOOTH is for everyone's opinion, so I think everyone's feedback is needed, whether they liked the song or not.
We know that from experience by differing in opinions on other tracks on here in the past. Two different people would have different opinions about one track, and that in turn would spark a pretty good conversation about the quality of the track as a whole. |

@XxXxDaTruthXxXx people can like what they want, we shouldn't judge.
Personally I see and appreciate everyone's pov. I like the content and can appreciate that he isn't rapping about anything negative. But I did not like the hook or the beat. |

The track is sick the best you've done so far as for production and recording, but I know you can come harder so honestly I'm waiting on what your gonna do to top this. You are on a superhuman grind and I see that in your progression over the years of knowing you, also I'm a big fan. lol

Whats good, this is Izzy from Groundwork Productions (I produced this track).
I think alot of people are missing the true point of this track. I think lyrically, MH was on point -- I enjoyed this song thru and thru when he sent it to me and I heard it. Music isn't always about the energy or hypeness of a song, but sometimes u just got to stop looking for the industry's standards and listen to each individual track for what it is. When I produced this beat, I had "Good Morning" by Kanye West in mind...Same piano pattern, and drums, for the most part. Its not supposed to be an intense track, its supposed to be kinda repetitive...it allows u to pay attention to the lyricist and just VIBE along with the beat itself. Next time to listen to this track, just lose yourself in the music, close your eyes, and come into MH's world...feel what he is saying, and emerge yourself in his lyrics. Just let the beat be the vehicle your riding in...feel me? This is a track that showcases verbal talent, not the producers talent...and MH delivered...to me. |

I hear you Izzy! And I forgot to rate this on my first comment. BANGER!!
This is a track worth vibing to right here. The lyrics are on point, and the prodution allows for the listener to focus on the artist, not just the beat itself. Keep it up Family! more to come |

Love the vibe, the hook and the smooth delivery. Your suppose to adapt and write rhymes to the production and that is exactly what MH did. Took me to another place, this one did. |
