In the first installment of his Booth-exclusive Counting Sheep… Countdown to Dreamer’s Poetry Series, indie emcee and site member Young Son reminds hip-hop lovers that social responsibility starts in the whip. In a decidedly unconventional twist on the street banger formula, the Minneapolis up-and-comer serves up a hard-hitting cut meant to be enjoyed with your Speaks Down Low. Delivering more of the insightful, left-of-center lyricism fans have come to expect, he addresses the real-life consequences of stereotypical “gangster” behavior—in his own words, “Everybody always wants to be loud, boisterous and ignorant rolling thru the block, and that ultimately leads to conflict.“ Producer Teddy Roxpin‘s keyboard and handclap instrumental, of course, demands to be played full-blast, but be considerate and save that for headphone listening sessions (try not to damage your hearing, though). Listeners can look forward to more exclusive cuts every Tuesday leading up to the May release of Young Son’s sophomore studio album, Dreamer’s Poetry.

It was alright......the flow was decent only thing i wasnt really was the hook which i think brings the track down from a three but if you looks at the rest of the song i would a lil over three so...

Yea the beat is nice, the flow is decent. Def a lot nicer flow that a lot of cats out right now, hook could use a lil work like CLT says... good look 4 MH tho.

The production and beat instantly attracts me. I'm really feeling this. His flow isn't spectacular, but it has like a chill or "real" vibe to it. It reminds me of a dude who's trying to get in the rap game and rapping to a basement beat. I'm not sure if that was the best way to word what I'm trying to say, but I feel his hunger....idk I'm just really feeling it. I won't listen to it over and over, but when it shows up in the shuffle on the pod I'll listen.

Thanks to MH for coming at us with the opportunity to host this series. The man has a lot in store... and he is a perfectionist, which helps.
A solid rotation-worthy song to kick off the series. Roxspin lays down some catchy notes.

You know I @otta comment on a MH joint! This has a 80's vibe here with the production. I been watchin alotta terminator and back to the future lately so that era is what I'm feelin ri@ht now. This kinda reminds me of some Miami Vice, or somethin. MH killed this as usual. I like that hook and the beat is stron@ as well. Handle ya own business is the messa@e, and I'm listenin!

Thanks for the link MH, I was actually going to ask where I can get this at. Anyways, this is great. Best of luck to you. I have a little bit of a connection down at MTV (Cousin is the VP of it's Latin channel but, in accordance, knows many of the executives) and, if you want, I can maybe send this her way. I don't know how much she'd be able to do but maybe it could be helpful.

Ha, it took me a couple minutes (and having to read all the comments before me) to figure out that this is MH. No offense. My brain is just takin a little while to actually function properly lol. I've always read his comments on tracks before I listen to em, cuz he gives an actual in-depth look at the song. As for this song, I gotta say I can't find anything wrong with this track! I absolutely love the production, and Son kills it! I'm callin it Classic, 'cause this is definitely something I'm going to look forward to listening to again and again!

MH - this is fine indeed...liking the flow you're laying over this sick sick beat - I like this beat right here, it's dark and it's got that I Got 5 On It feel...hook was good but a little too much was going on there...You've mos def got talent and I look forward to the next in the series...This is a 3.5 right here!
