To prepare for the September release of his sophomore album, Philanthropist, Twin Cities MC and DJBooth member Young Son has teamed up with Houston’s DJ Kool Los B to drop an appetizer mixtape, entitled Forever Words. Leading off the disc is a freestyle over Little Brother-member Big Pooh‘s Sincerely Yours (from the group’s critically-acclaimed album, The Minstrel Show), appropriately titled Proper Introduction. Over 9th Wonder‘s beat, Son once again discusses his issues with the modern hip-hop scene, claiming that today’s rappers are ”chicken like the dollar menu.” In the end, the message is clear; it’s time for a change in hip-hop. Listeners who agree, and would like some refreshing music, can download the Forever Words mixtape, available online-only May 30.
Say these werds was a hot track to me, so this dude is on my radar. He not the kinda cat that gonna get the sales and promotion, but honestly, this guy is Hip Hop, make no mistake about it. He can Rap! Ulike half these MOFOs I choose to listen to due to beats. This is good stuff!
Aye, I have never even heard of this guy. Believe me though, I'm following up on him. This song was pure poetry......." These are no longer lyrics, these are forever words." sick yo.
DjRoyale, Young Son is actually closer on the Booth than you think! (Hint: one of the more regular commenters-but hasn't commented here so far). "These are no longer lyrics, these are forever words"=classic.
"Take that crap to the John like Coltrane" This is the kind of music that needs to be playin' on the radio. Don't know if I could call it a classic like I Used To Love H.E.R. but you'll get there. Keep doin' what you do man and remember . . . there's STILL people sleepin' on Mos, Lupe, Common, etc. so "Never Let Up"
Another hint: Young Son was the one who (along with me) drove WOW!! mad to the point where she started saying "DIS" all the time...C'mon girl, why can't we communicate without disrupting the forum flow (you don't accept e-mails rite now)
:p...k im not sure wut u mean by DIS.."why can't we communicate w/o disrupting the forum flow(you don't accept e-mails rite now)"---my e-mails work-n fine...i think...
o M. Burmy, correction- it wuz acual-e Big Boi's Royal Flush track that drove me to use "DIS" in all of my comments- look it up it's actual-e a real-e fun-e/stupid argument! haha
O_M_GOSH! I just googled Young Son and that iz DJBooths MichaelHannah! Who new that that wuz him- not me! sorry michael "Young Son" Hannah if u read DIS^^^
This guy is young, focused and very talented, this song is one of his best lyrically... He's only getting better, so I'll just say expect better things to come from Young Son I have a good feeling about this dude.
YO ITS HOUSTON'S FRESHEST NEW DJ CHECKIN IN!!! THE MIXTAPE GON BE CRAZY YOUNG SON DJ KOOL LOS B FOREVER WORDS COMMIN REAL SOON......THE MIXTAPE IS FULL OF SOULFUL TRACKS SO IF U LIKE THIS 1 U IN FOR A TREAT!!!
Man Im used to listenin to rappers like Soulja Boy Tell em, Webbie and Hurricane Chris but I have to say Young Son is straight fiya!! I think I actually had to rewind some lines to understand what they meant because Im not used to the rappers I listen to using big words and metaphors I never knew there were songs like this... I feel like NEO after he left the matrix... I used to think the best rappers were all on the radio I mean I didnt even know other rappers existed this is awesome it feels so good to use my brain again! HORAAAAAAAAY FOR YOUNG SON!
The track is alright. The production is okay, it is not the best production I have heard up under Young's flow but it is okay. The lyrical is content solid and it does it purpose, it introduces you to Young Son.
Man... IDK what you cats are listening to, honestly. There must be a lot of Soulja Boy fans or something in the room... if you ain't "understanding" what my man Son saying- don't call it lame!!! Do the f'in research!!! People always fear what they can't grasp and point blank- its a lot of BLATANT HATING going on... Yall cats is whats wrong w/ the radio now!!! And what kind of feedback you leaving when you not telling him something he can improve on or what specifically you didn't feel??? Another tell-tale sign of a HATER. Yo- i ain't naive enough to think that everyone is going to like every track that anybody else puts out- i mean to each his own, but c'mon man- yall got it WRONG! This IS RiLL MuSick!
