Young Scolla - Stare
Producer: Tecknowledgy [of The Xtraordinary Gentlemen]
Album: Unreleased
Label: Fab 5 ENT/USR
Young Scolla seems to be in damn fine spirits these days; the Motown buzzmaker’s last solo feature, Wonderful, was an ode to positivity in the face of adversity, and his recent guest verse on Aleon Craft‘s Brand New Day found him more grateful than ever for his successes. On this new, unreleased track, the erudite emcee continues in this uplifting vein, explaining that he’s too busy enjoying himself to pay any attention to doubters who Stare his way. Over the breezy Chipmunk-soul production of Xtraordinary Gentlemen beatsmith Tecknowledgy, the emcee brushes the haters off in style, putting out enough positive vibes to make even the most jaded listeners feel warm and fuzzy. Wait, did I say “positive vibes? ” Because I meant “urine:” “You would swear that I peed in the pool / I’m just warmin’ up what seems to be cool.” It’s O.K, man, we all do it from time to time – I mean, I don’t, but I know people who do… uh, anyway. If this outtake is any indication of what we’ll hear on Tears & Triumphs, fans should be very excited; keep it locked for further details on the forthcoming project!

This record got cut from the new project? Seriously? If this is cutting room floor material I am positive this new Scolla project is going to be, in one word, flame.

The production was pretty nicely done, but I wasn't feeling the "oh oh"s on the hook. The flow/lyrics during the verses were nice, tho.

this is one of my favorite beats I have done and Scolla brings a brilliant touch to it. Tears and Triumphs will be insane.

Definitely another great record. This is a stellar indication of how massive Tears & Triumphs will be, especially seeing that it didn't make the final tracklist...wow

A perfect example of, "wait, this didn't make the album? well goddamn then, this album's going to be dope."
The beat incorporates a soul sample without doing the formulaic soul sample thing, and Scolla lyrically delivers. You're listening to one of the Midwest's best young talents right now. p.s. - If I knew you peed in the pool, I'd probably stare and listen a little bit too. |

The track def. got some substance and a school flow, but Young Scolla has done these types of tracks before, time to turn the page.
