Young Scolla - On My Way
Artist: Young Scolla
Featuring: Lyriciss
Producer: Mark Byrd
Album: Hollywood Outcasts EP
Label: Fab 5 ENT/USR
On Success/Failure, featured last week, Booth favorite Young Scolla joined forces with PHZ-Sicks to do battle with self-doubt and insecurity. Looks like the Motown native succeeded in dispatching those pesky inner demons; on new single On My Way, the freestyle alum sounds more confident than ever in his ability to make it to the top of the game. Beatsmith Mark Byrd mans the boards, backing the headliner’s exultant rhymes with an appropriately celebratory Chipmunk-soul sample. DMV representative (and fellow freestyle series contributor) Lyriciss lives up to his name on the guest tip, rhyming “lexicon” with “echelon” and dropping a few unexpected similes (“Most of these rap dudes is like sugarcane…”). Does this victorious jam leave you craving more freshness? Then you’re in luck; set to hit our mixtape page for streaming and free download soon, the DJBooth.net/RefinedHype-sponsored Hollywood Outcasts EP will feature this cut along with new joints by D. Julien, Bryant Stewart, Mike Dreams and more. Keep it locked for further details!

Short and sweet Sunday feedback: Usually when two artists say they're collaborating on an entire project, I am skeptical. Who knows if they'll mesh, I ask. If "On My Way" is an indicator, though, its clear Scolla and Lyricss mesh quite well. Looking forward to the EP.

Great record...I loved it on Built For More..
Can't wait to hear what all the Lunchroom Champion cats bring on this EP. Z I don't think the ep is just Scolla & Lyriciss, too the best of my knowledge its project featuring the entire collective of artists. |

Ummmm....... I have defenitly heard much better from Scolla. Im just really not feeling this from him. The worst part of "On My Way" is the production from Mark Byrd. Its just too busy, and is annoying from second 1. But, the feature from Lyriciss is good. He did better than Scolla., and thats not good. When you have someone feature on your record, you dont want that person to out do you. "On My Way" is an overall OK song, but cuz of Lyriciss, im giving it a 3.........

I continue being impressed by the wide-range of styles and skills Lyriciss brings to the table each & every time he returns, overflowing w/ passion for his poetry. Mark-my-words: Lyriciss will be on top. He possesses the extraordinarily rare hunger for the culture & craft, making his widespread recognition inevitable. So, get hip to Lyriciss now or just wait with the bandwagon.
