I’ve been writing a lot lately about how Young Jeezy’s slowly but surely won me over, but he’s taken a substantial step backwards with his new single Trap or Die 2. As opposed to the original certified banger, this iteration of Trap or Die is so anemic it’s barely breathing. Now I’m all for minimalistic production, but Zaytoven’s beat on the track is barely there – just the occasional snare roll, a slowly paced high-hat and literally three notes. Verbally Jeezy isn’t much better, sounding like he drank a bottle of Robitussin before he hit the booth and becoming the 117th rapper to spit a “quarterbackin like Brett Farve” line. The Snowman can do much better than this (like for example his last single I Got This). I guess they can’t all be winners. Jeezy’s new album Thug Motivation 103 (for which Thug Motivation 101 and 102 is a prerequisite) still has no release date.

After the first minute, I gotta agree with Nathan too. Jeezy has been lacking on the mic lately with I Got This being sightly worst. I was hoping Zaytoven would save the song with a dope beat, like Make Tha Trap Say Aye and Stoopid, but just like Nathan said the beat sucks. Dissapointed in Jeezy he's become one of my favorite rappers recently.

Yeah this song was boring. Nathan pretty much summed it up. It's just one song though. We all know what Jeezy is capable of. This isn't a single is it???

Before listening I automatically (and wrongfully) assumed that this would BANG. Sorry, but it does not. There will be Zaytoven and Jeezy Stans who will disagree and send me hate mail, but what can I do but be honest? Next...

Everyone knows that Jeezy is not the best lyricist but i love him because the raw emotion and energy he brings to his tracks. There was no trace of that on this song. This was a dud.

Zaytoven is best known for his beats for Gucci Mane, OJ da Juiceman, and the So Icey Boyz (the label's in-house producer). So when this came up, I was wondering "Has Zaytoven left the crew?" "Has Jeezy squashed the beef with Gucci?"
Well, from the anemic sounds of this, I think So Icey might have sent a Trojan horse over to CTE-acting like it's all good now, but will bring plenty of negative reviews (as seen here). Also sounds like Zaytoven lied about who ghostwrote this (maybe Gucci did but somebody else gave an alias!) PLEASE don't let this be what loses the fight! Jeezy has plenty other good tracks; would sure be a shame if the So Icey camp actually won... |

It's funny this that is actually one of the first Jeezy songs I've liked in a little bit. For a while I found his songs just boring, nothing about them kept me listening. This one, probably due to Zaytoven's beat, kept me listening. It be real funny if gucci secretly wrote this for jeezy hahaha

Jeezy has truly taken a step back with this one, I hope he didn't pay that much for the track cause that shit sounds local(another word for cheap). He needs to go back to the basics and leave the local sound for Gucci.

I really hope this is not on TM103. This song is boring as hell. Lyrics are weak and the beat is wack. Ireally liked The Biggest Movie Ever, but his recent leaked tracks has been really bad. The Recession was a good album, I hope TM103 turns out to be good, but if tracks like this make up most of the album, I'll pass this time around.
