With the recent successes of Lil’ Wayne’s Tha Carter III and Nas’s Untitled, industry heads are clamoring about which forthcoming hip-hop release will continue this current upward trend. Could it be The Game’s third studio album, L.A.X.? Or how about Nelly’s oft-delayed Brass Knuckles? Inside the DJ Booth, our money is on Young Jeezy’s September release of The Recession. On the heels of his chart-rising single, Put On, featuring Kanye West, the Atlanta trapstar has contacted former label boss Jay-Z and together they have recorded a brand new remix. Unlike West’s guest verse, however, Hova jokingly asks to have his verse “T-Pain-ed”, but ultimately decides to do away with the over-used voice box. The Recession is set for release on September 2 via Def Jam.

Did anyone see the vid for the original? Damn, that was strong. He went on with it for his album cover too. This track is sick as hell. Big respect for an actual remix with new verses from Jeezy as well. I think I actually like this version better than the first one, I'd like to have Kanye on this version as well.

the original was better. I thought the goal of a remix was to improve the original? this is far worse than the original . jay's verse was refreshign to hear a new voice on the beat but his verse wasnt even that good. thumbs down.

I will say this. The video was mad genius, although it should have been better as far as the direction of the story they were trying to capture. The whole political thing was interesting, but the truth was neither Ye or Jeezy was talking about what they were showing in the video. Jay-Z did his thing on the remix, no doubt. What would have been dope is if the orignal was Jeezy, Yeezy and Jay-Z. But I'll give it to them for this one. It's okay. I don't think the song in general is that great, but that made it do what it do.

Whewww...good thing we didn't hear Hova on the voicebox...then we would know we're screwed. Nonetheless, Hov is fire on this remix. Jeezy's verses aren't as goood as the original by any means, but Jay brings the song to rotation status for me. Still not as good as the original.

Glad Jay didn't get his T-Pain on and just riped it as usual. I agree with most everyone it was cool Jeezy gave us new bars but his original was a little better. Put Kanye on here with Jay and it would make this a classic.Feelin both old and new as bangers tho.

I like the original because of how epic it sounded when Ye came in, but I have been informed that on the album its not gonna have the pause of Ye crooning which sucks. Anyway the remix isn?t bad, I?m happy Jeezy dropped new lyrics, even if they weren?t his best, at least its something new. Jay dropped a decent verse. I liked how they switched up the beat during his verse, that was cool.
