Over the years a lot of rappers have laid claim to hip-hop’s throne, most recently The Throne, but here to make a move for the crown is Young Gunz alumni Young Chris and his new promo single King. While a triumphant, horn-laden beat from Navegante proudly announces Chris’ arrival, the newest member of rap’s royalty spits yet more of his always solid Philly flows, letting listeners (and potential challengers) know that they’re mere peasants in the face of his royal lineage. While King has yet to become attached to a larger project, those in favor of Chris’ benevolent rap dictatorship can keep it locked to The DJBooth for more new music and details on his forthcoming solo album Alive.
