Young Chris - Searching ft. Wale & Bun B
Artist: Young Chris
Producer: Best Kept Secret
Album: Searching for an Outlet Global Campaign / Now or Never
Label: Division 1/Universal Motown
Back in November of ‘08, Young Chris jumped on the series bandwagon with 30 Days, 30 Verses, a month-long project in which he dropped one verse per day, using beats by big names and underground up-and-comers alike. Now, the Roc-A-Fella rapper has spruced up one of the series’ standout cuts with guest appearances by Bun B and Wale, who each reveal what they’ve been Searching for over a soulful, sampled beat by Best Kept Secret. Though the lyrical skill all three emcees bring to the table is justification enough for a spot on our front page, the other reason we’re featuring Searching has to do with the record’s suspiciously lengthy outro. In the new Searching for an Outlet Global Campaign, Chris is asking listeners everywhere to submit a rapped, sung, or even spoken verse explaining what it is that they’re searching for in life. The winning verse will appear on the final version of this record, which will be included on his forthcoming album, Now or Never (set to drop sometime this year).

By the way that Young Chris has recently upgraded his flow and the new pic, he wants to be the new Jay-Z. I think I heard this back on January 11th. I thought it was a pretty fly joint. Bun B wasn't on it yet, just Chris and Wale. Young Chris has been getting on my radar lately and Wale is one of my favorite newer rappers out right now. He verse on here was so sincere. “I guess I can’t rap cuz I went to school”!

I was feelin the light production, and Young Chris had a pretty good verse. Wale kept it real one here, too. When Bun B came in, though, I thought it was a wierd contrast from Chris and Wale's high-pitched voices. Don't get me wrong, he dropped a really deep verse, but it just sounded a little out of place to me. Still a nice joint though.

Nice record. Best Kept Secret smashed the laid back, comfortable and jazzy production. All three emcees were nice on this, Bun B is my personal favorite but Wale killed this bongo drum vibe.
Nice story behind the record too. Big up to Chris. |

I am feeling this track. I heard YC's verse a few months ago and loved it. The additions of Bun B and Wale makes this even better. I felt that Bun B was alil uncomfortable on this beat but still managed to kill it. This was complete heat. I challenge you to find a recent YC song that isn't. He is on his bs fa real.

Heck Yeah!!! Young Chris. This definatley sounds like a Roc joint right here.
Errbody flows so hard on this track. Chris, Wale and Bun B have me diggin' this and noddin' my head. this is real rap right here ya'll! The production, while reminiscent of 2001-2003 Hov, is still tight to me. Maybe a few more verses or longer ones coulda been nice - I wasn't ready for this track to end. I guess that's a good formula - Keep em wantin' more... The end of the song went on forever - but that's my only complaint! |

Young Chris spits hard on this track. His flow remind me of a young Hova back in the 90's. Ive been a fan of wale cuz i always thought he had hardcore lyrics ever since he started rappin' on the mic. This beat is dope and Bun B came hard as usual on this song.

Out On Top, you must not be a rapper fam. The beat playing out for a long time is a GOOD THING! That means we can grab the instrumental and spit on it! LOL
