Once poised to become the next big thing, former (very former) G-Unit member Young Buck has watched his career generally get put on hold because 50 so far refuses to release him from his previous contract. Tired of waiting, Buck has let loose a series of tracks in the last couple weeks, complete with no shortage of G-Unit disses, but No Excuses is easily the best of the new material. Produced by Diskrete, who gives Buck a remarkably soulful beat to work off, No Excuses is more focused on building the community up than tearing another rapper down, with Buck sending shout outs to the recently passed Teddy Pendergrass, the victims of the Haiti earthquake and more. “Iced out chain with the charm to match? Damn, I thought that we was better than that.” We are, sometimes it just takes good music to bring it out in us. No Excuses isn’t currently attached to any project, but 50 or not, Buck’s determined to remain relevant, so stay tuned to DJBooth.net and I guarantee this is far from the last time you’ll here some new Buck.

Young Buck has churned up mostly old crap (sorry, being honest) over the past 4-6 months. Finally, we get something that is new and not just from old studio sessions during his G-Unit days. This is why I liked Buck 4-5 years ago... I want to hear more of this moving forward.

I'm getting pissed, Buck needs to work out this label issue and put a damn album out. He always comes with solid material. 3.5 for this.

Agree with Z, great to hear a breath of fresh air from Buck. If only he could crank out a few more of these, combine them with a couple street anthems and a radio hit and you'd have a dope album...which will never get put out as long as 50's breathing.

Much better than what I was expecting. The hook could be improved, but this still sounds real cool.

BANGER!!! Young Buck picked the perfect beat to go in, street-conscious, wisdom-filled raps on full display. I wish he would do more often ...

Better than what I expected from buck, if he went just a lil harder on this i could give it a few more plays. But this track indicates to me Buck still got somethin left in the tamk.
