If I had to compare Yonas’ new single Push Em Back to a city, it would definitely be Toronto. And if you have ever been to T-Dot, you should know exactly why; Toronto is a city with a little bit of everything and everyone, plus it is friendly without being naive. Although a Bronx-native, Yonas exudes a certain worldly combo of culture and positivity, while still remaining edgy. Push Em Back utilizes some stellar production by Sean Divine to allow Yonas to claim his spot as “the nicest on the mic since Martin Luther.” While his bars are not as eccentrically witty as Weezy, and consciousness may not consume him like Common, Yonas has finds something rare in hip hop with this song: balance. Versatility, knowledge, strength, Push Em Back is a great song that contains a little bit of everything, just like Toronto. If you are digging this, make sure to cop Yonas’ album SEVEN which is set to drop sometime this spring or summer, depending on whether the release date gets – ahem – pushed back.

I am sure Yonas is capable of making an okay record, but all we get from him is great records (this is not me complaining, its sarcasm). His consistency is eerily similar with fellow NY native K. Sparks.
I like "Mindless" more, but this stands on its own two just fine.

Another Yonas song i will download (if i can find a link). I didnt know who the fvck this guy was like 1 month ago, but i was so excited when i saw this track! This dude is so fvckin good. He is about to blow up, guaranteed. Him and XV are the next to be big (and j cole, but it seems like a lot of ppl know him). I think this had some better rhymes than Mindless, but Mindless is the type of song that could set off his career, keep posting his songs!!!

Definitely a solid track. Yonas has really been on fire lately and Sean Divine is a good producer. Like Z said, "Mindless" was a little better but this is still an above average song.

Doesn't have the same easily identifiable appeal as Mindless, but still yet another solid track from an emcee you better keep your eye on - with talent like this he'll be bigger than Fat Joe's waistline in no time.

Q-Cuff speaks the truth in his recap, Yonas' style is really balanced. So much so that you cant really categorize him as a specific type of MC. Yonas knows how to folw oon the beat. he takes the beat and raps accordingly, unlike some other rappers out there who are uncapable.

The rating scale needs to be fixed There are 13 fours, 1 two, and 1 three 13x4=52+2+3=57 57/15=3.8 So it should be at 3.75 stars, its all about the rating! |

Both YONAS tracks iv heard have been amazing. A link to download this would be amazing (cough cough) Y raps hard on here and the hook is great. Production is incredible. This is one of my favorite to come out on here in a long time.

firstly Toronto stand Up!!!!...just for quentin;s analogy.
lets start withe negatives cause ther's just one and thats the hook which was the only average thing and was kinda annoying at times. Yonas murders this majestic-like sounding production. His story sticks with me cause i have African Roots. he paints the struggle in africa and preaches for peace and a sort of revolution. all this is done with heart and and great execution great listen a def a banger |
