Fame sure has changed one of rap’s most unlikely new rising stars, the heavily tattooed, rural Alabama representative Yelawolf. While the DJBooth Freestyle alum may have been happy to ride around in a box Chevy just a year ago, he now refuses to whip anything but Daddy’s Lambo. Ok, so maybe Yela hasn’t really changed – after all, the whip in question belongs to a rich girl he’s using for her money, but he obviously has actually made some Hollywood friends, including Lambo producer Drama Beats (a.k.a. Drama, a.k.a. Rob Dyrdek’s cousin/whipping boy on Fantasy Factory). Impressively Drama actually comes through with a simultaneously stealth and booming beat (just try to stop your head from nodding) that fits Yela’s ever-shifting flow perfectly, allowing Catfish Billy to take his revving and breaking rhymes to new speeds. His status may be growing by the minute, but on the mic the man hasn’t changed a thing, thank sweet baby jesus. This song has that head-nodding, trunk rattling beat we've come to expect from Yelawolf. The hook is pretty catchy and the lyrics are solid. Gotta put it in rotation.

Yea, this is where in the back of your mind you start to compare Yelawolf and Eminem. Not saying that Yelawolf is near Eminem yet, but he's definitely not too far behind with many similarites.

Anyone who used to watch "Big & Rob" is amazed that Drama's now making beats for major artists, right? That's blowing my mind right now.
It will be interesting to see how Yela's music changes now that he's signed to a major - if this track is any indication, even if he goes to Hollywood, he'll still be able to flow with the best of them.

This is really dope. This guy is great. I love his work. Its all enjoyable listens. He picked a perfect production work from Drama Beats on this. You cant help but feel the flow. Yelawolf did work on this. A def banger for me.

Interesting look/personality Unique Delivery Unique Flow(who else switches the flow up all over the place like him) Ear for the right beats I was hooked as soon as I heard the first song off Trunk Muzik. Of course I did my homework and got his previous mixtapes before that so yeah this guy is legit. |

Reminds me of a hybrid Eminem, Twista and Crucial Conflict. The end of the song is extended too much, messy and slightly repetative ending...

Man Drama's beat has me hooked and Yela's flow is just switching it up so often, this is deff a step up from 'I just wanna party'. This track is so addictive! Lyrically mediocre, but I can't help but enjoy this track with tingles riding up and down my spine.

Nice track. Don't really understand the relation to Eminem everyone is trying to make? Yeah, he's white like Eminem, but this mans got his own style and sound. Eminem was also more lyrically gifted earlier in his career, but that's no knock to Yelawolf's flow because not many can stand next to Slim Shady.
Can someone explain their similarities to me? Not really seeing it. Yelawolf is more hood banger, and Eminem has more of a angry slower paced flow. |
