XV - T.A.L.K.
Artist: XV
Producer: Seven
Album: The Kid With the Green Backpack
Label: Square Bound Music/Warner Bros.
During an exclusive interview with our own DJ Z at the beginning of this year, Kansas native and Booth favorite XV commented on how he hopes to become a household name in 2010, a goal that may not be that unrealistic, especially considering how people T.A.L.K. Actually, if they talk as much as the school kids do in XV’s latest leak, his name has probably reached the corners of Japan by now. But Vizzy’s rising fame can be attributed more to his storytelling skills and outstanding lyrical skill than pure gossip, and with a track that features the stories of an unique cast of characters and a Seven-produced backdrop fit for an extraterrestrial sock hop, T.A.L.K. will certain have us talking…or gossiping…or at the very least looking for a friend who owns a Star Wars t-shirt (trust me, it’ll make sense later). T.A.L.K. will be featured on XV’s long-awaited The Kid With the Green Backpack LP, which still has no set release date; meaning you’ll have to keep it locked to the Booth for updates.

I could brag about getting to hear "T.A.L.K." - in addition to the rest of the finished version of "The Kid With the Green Backpack" - over a year and a half ago, but I don't like to brag.
This record, like almost everything XV and Seven have produced and recorded together, is excellent. Trust me, there is much much more where this came from. And its all worth the wait. |

He will definitely blow up eventually, and i could see this being the song that does that...XV is so @*#$! sick
I seem to be liking a lot of freshmen rappers lately (Big Sean, Donnis, Yonas, XV, J. Cole, etc.) Of course, that is a talented group of rappers. XV, release that album! |

The production is an instant like for me. Seven always comes through with some of the craziest beats and this right here was definitely something special. I liked the song up until the hook, which I can disregard cause the majority of it was crazy. His album really needs to find it's way off the shelve.

I've proclaimed XV well deserving of any sort of major publication hype since "The Square In the Circle". T.A.L.K. only increases that sentiment.

XV's talent transcends the basics of being able to rap well as he is able to create full songs (coherent verses) that are as catchy as they are engaging and meaningful. The content within ease verse show it is possible to combine plenty of clever turns of phrase with relatibility. And he always manages to pens hooks that are so sharp you could go fishing with them. Catchy.
With Seven behind the boardworks, before even hearing it, I knew it would be great. Blending vocal samples with which XV interacts smoothly. @thatdudedan - No! Its Michael "Seven" Summers. Remember it. Repeat it like a mantra to release negative energies from all manner of music players in your life. @JWorthy, you put me up on XV two years ago or so. It was his comments on DJBooth and the "demanding" ones on thecoolniverse.com that made me give XV's music a closer look to see what's the big deal. Best thing you ever did homie! :p *tips hat* Keep talking out there to help spread the word and get this guy some well deserved recognition! |

I have to be honest, I'm not so sure about this beat, but it's just a tremendous storytelling flow from XV (per usual). There's a reason the man's the absurdly unsigned.
And for a guy who doesn't like to brag, DJ Z sure likes to do it a lot (lol). |
