XV - Carmen Sandiego ft. Harlems Cash
Artist: XV
Featuring: Harlem's Cash
Producer: Chad Hugo
Album: 40 Days, 40 Nights Series
Label: Square Bound Music/Warner Bros.
Smallville, Kansas wunderkind XV returns to the Booth with a creative track from his 40 Days, 40 Nights series, entitled Carmen Sandiego. So, where in the world did this Chad Hugo-produced cut come from? The answer: all over the place. Going straight “Where’s Waldo?” with cohort Harlems Cash, the Midwest maniac spits a series of pop culture references that would make Andy Warhol smirk. With a jet-pack rap style and a unique imagination, the record is a futuristic endeavor that will catch the ears of so-called ‘hipsters’ from sea to shining sea. In the end it’s very simple for this Planet Squaria superstar; originality + quality board work = crazy results.

I see he shaved the beard off. He looks like less of a clown now. This is a decent song. I like his previous works WAY better. This is only OK.

I'm always givin props to Booth supporters, but there's somthin about this track holdin me back. No need to talk about how much I like XV, because that's already been established with the other 100 songs he's put out. I love the dude as an artist, but this beat is a little off for me. I like it in some parts, and then don't like it in others. Hard to explain, maybe its the chorus? Who knows, still a 3/5, nothin to hate on. I just made an XV playlist last week, and it made me realize that he's got some good material. This may be added to the list.

I like his flow and the beat, but the background music isn't so good, it kinda annoyes me. It's not bad but I wouldn't listen to this again for sure, I've heard a lot, lot better

Is this different? Yes. But that is what you have to appreciate. Besides, when you are grinding out 2 songs a day, morning and evening, for 40 straight days, not everything you create is going to appeal to everyone. Love the production from Chad. XV, I see you!
