Wyclef Jean - More Bottles ft. Timbaland
Artist: Wyclef Jean
Featuring: Timbaland
Producer: Timbaland
Album: Untitled
Label: Refugee Republic
Featured yesterday, ghoulish street anthem We Made It earned praise for its genre-fusing creativity, as well as Wyclef Jean‘s gritty, socially-conscious lyricism. The Fugees alumnus’ other recently-released buzz single is an entirely different story—sort of. The setup’s pretty typical of a club banger—Wyclef and his superproducer pal, Timbaland, are sitting in the VIP room, ordering more and More Bottles of their favorite upscale liquors—but anyone who hasn’t been guzzling Patron all night will quickly realize that there’s more here than meets the eye. To make a long story short, this record is less a ringing endorsement of drunken revelry than a Masque of the Red Death-style jab at those who (figuratively and literally) party the night away, blissfully and willfully ignorant of the horrors lurking just outside the door. Of course, the crowning irony is that so many of us will be drinking and dancing to this record—with Timbaland’s starkly exotic boardwork (plus a few ad-libs) and a refreshingly un-arena rock guitar solo to boot, how could you not move to the music? If this darkly clever club cut’s got you intrigued, keep it locked to the Booth for more info on the ‘09 release of Wyclef’s untitled LP.

I love me some Timbalnd production, and this is no exception!!! Put Timba with Wyclef, and you get a track worth playing several, SEVERAL times. Wyclef not my favorite, but still certainly a good rapper. Good track! In rotation.

To be honest, I wasn't sure how this collabo would work out. I enjoyed it, though. Tim's production was pretty cool and Wyclef sounded good. Not my favorite from Wyclef, but in my rotation.

I love the beat, but not clef on it. i didn't like is approach on this track. Timbo did his part, but clef dropped the ball in my opinion.

I prefer WE MADE IT (last night's featured record) over MORE BOTTLES. Thanks to Richard, I took into consideration the deeper message here. However, I am just not feeling Timbo's production. I might be the odd man on with that opinion, but its just not up to snuff with his previous body of work.
Clef is solid, but this is nothing to call to write home about. |

I was feelin like Timbo has been on a slight slump lately, but this sounds more like the Timbaland I know and love. It is a lil thin, but it's a step closer to his older material. I thought, tho it was kinda mellow for a club jam, this was pretty bangin. This is a cool party jam, but the message was the aspect that pushed it into rotation for me.

Wyclef has been weak as of late. The last album was a huge disappoint (coming from a person who has all of his LP's). Beat is on point...lyrics lack substance.

I know Wyclef just declared this as one of his "new" buzz singles, but in fact this song leaked couple months ago and he just rolls with it now that its out. Its already couple years old. I can tell by the style it's produced and more so by Tim's vocals.

The beat on here is dope. I was expectin better tho, it gets kinda repetative. Wyclef isnt as good as he usually is, but its still decent
