Trips to the arcade used to be a religious experience. If you had a bag full of quarters on a Sunday there was nothing but opportunity and bliss in front of you. Once (just once) I threw my skills down on a Mario Bros. game for 5 straight hours – one of the proudest moments in my young life. It just so happens that Brooklyn-based rapper Wordspit shares my sentiments when it comes to video games, but he has no plans of relinquishing his console crown anytime soon. On his DJBooth premiere track, Joystick Madness, Word’s energy shows a young emcee very confident in his craft as he damn near hyperventilates while spitting bar after bar over an equally forceful beat from J Face. Wordspit’s bob-and-weave style of delivery on the track only further amplifies the production’s fast-paced action, resulting in a track worthy of placement on Tekken. If you’re digging Wordspit on this manic track, check his latest mixtape, The Coolest BBoi Stance, out now.

The idea is there, but its not completely formulated. The production is messy and all over the place.

I have to agree with 149th. Wordspit has some crazy energy and skill - if he can learn to harness it better he'll start turning out some really dope hip-hop. And how has no one else come up with the name wordspit before? Seems obvious, but I've never seen another rapper with that name.

I remember those days "playin Street Fighter II.. Challenges ON! like back to back to back forever'n'ever Amen... or until I ran out of coin, yeah coin i remember that too lol. I wuld prolly spin this @ a Gamenite or the like & No doubt Wordspit can do exactly that, it jus doesnt have that sound that appeals. Still, dig the concept

This brought back good memories of me whopping some ass at TMNT the arcade gane. I like how his flow almost perfectly matched the intensity of the production. In terms of "gaming records," I prefer this to Lil Flip's highly annoying "Game Over."

Damn! I was hyped up to hear this, once I got thru reading the blurb but it just didn't seem to click ya know??

Aside from the fact that, I have not been to Arcade-Store in years and it brings back memories (and tears) of the good times, this failed to make a mark. Skills and delivery are evident but execution is where this song falls flat.
