There’s no shortage of rappers dreaming of success, but only a select few with the talent and determination to actually get there. Fortunately up-and-coming emcee Wordsmith has everything it takes to climb the Ladder of Success, and as long as he’s on his way he’s bringing some friends along. Joining Wordsmith on his journey to the top are his frequent rhyme companions Kontact, Black Knight and Junclassic, along with perennial Booth favorites RAtheMC and Soulstice (DMV stand up), who all combine to give Ladder of Success a thoroughly celebratory feel. These many rappers on one track can be too much without a strong beat, but luckily producer Decadez has crafted a memorable sonic backdrop that’s catchy without overwhelming the lyrics (though the hook could have frankly used some work). For more help on climbing your way to the top, be sure to check out Wordsmith’s upcoming Overdue & Underrated mixtape, due out December 7.

Collaborative tracks can always go very right or very wrong. This is somewhere in the middle.

On a sidenote: Does any city have more talented "up-n-comers" besides the DMV region? Seriously. Think about that for a second. Get back to me.

DMV stand up for sure. They've gone from chronically overlooked to seemingly everwhere seemingly in the span of a year.

Other than the hook, I'm really enjoying this one. The beat ties everything together nicely. Nothing revolutionary, but still quality music.

Good posse cut! Beat thumps something proper and hook is aight, and everyone performs in their respective styles and flow... Rotation-Stuff.

The track got too fast for my comfort. The start was cool but the tempo change messed me up.

I really dig the beat, but the lyrics are a little cheesy.

Really liked the beat, but as you said the hook could have used some work.
