Wordsmith - Judged in Da Cipha ft. RhymeZwell & Black Knight
Artist: Wordsmith
Producer: Professa
Album: Unreleased Exclusive
Label: Nu Revolution Ent. LLC.
When hip-hop culture and the city of Baltimore are brought up in conversation, most people are quick to connect the two by way of the popular HBO series, The Wire. Having already featured Charm City rappers such as Bossman and Hots, the DJBooth is excited to feature a new B-More artist by the name of Wordsmith. Joined by fellow home town artists RhymeZwell and Black Knight, the underground emcee tells a lyrically nimble tale about the city where oh-so-many get Judged in Da Cipha. This heavy-hitting production, which is helmed by Professa, is not currently attached to any album or mixtape, but rather serves as appetizer to a career that Wordsworth knows can span four courses.

I want our members to actually LISTEN to this song. Not 1.5 minutes of the song... BUT THE WHOLE SONG. You are not A&R's cycling through stacks of demos. Give these hard-working artists your time; something most people in the industry do not. This is not a BANGER, but its solid hip-hop out of B'more. Expand your horizons my people :-)

Yeah. Matthew 101 is starting to look like a more well spoken version of WOW. Professa's production on this is real different and eclectic. This is definitely a good hip hop track. I'd love to cipher with some cats over this production. This is definitely for the heads and I am one, so I can dig it. 4 stars easy. LIKE I USUALLY SAY, I don't expect the Matthew 101s or other 1-dimensional music listeners to feel this. With a name like 101, maybe people should brush up on their "Hip Hop 101". Real talk.

Man, I thought I was listening to TALIB KWELI in the beginning and during the hook. This is quintessential STREET MUSIC. I beg to differ on this one DJ Z, I thought this was a near banger track; therefore, I have to give it a 3.5, which rounds it up to banger status.

I just put 101 next to my name so its easy to remember so i dont forget it michaelhannah. Again brush up on my "hip hop 101" I dont need to I can name 100's of songs better then this. Yeah sure I am probally 1 dimensional when listening to a song because im not listening for lyrics I want to hear a baning beat and this song dosent have it. and if you said 4 stars why did you give it a 3? Again I have a right to my opinion.

The beat is somewhat abstract, but bangs! I gotta admit it kinda drowned the first cat out. RhymesZwell kills this hands down. Black knight is cool with it too. I gotta run it back to give it an honest rundown of who truly brings the lyricism simply because the production outshined the MCs so much. 3 stars so far...

Wordsmith takes an unusual creative approach to the abstract beat and turns the song into something that you really need to pay attention to. Hip-hop is all about innovation, and apparently some people can't appreciate the artistic process that goes beyond a hot beat for the clubs.

basically... if my vote doesn't match with dj z's one i basically don't listen 2 any song i'm votin and i'm just throwin out ratings at random????? expand your horizons dj z. you're not the only one to be gifted with two working ears.
i'v listened to every second, and NO, this is nothing but a long chain of phasing and chorusing effects apllied to a very simple beat. and, in terms of quality and creativity, this is nothing special. |

Its a banger, good lyrics, gritty 90's beat, I appreciate it for what it is, good Hip-Hop. People, understand, this is not meant to be a single or a club joint, just a quality release on the net.

hey kids lets get along. check this out. This song is not meant to be a club banger. This song is meant for your mind. If you can't grasp the concept that music can be about more than shakin your ass then why bother even rating the song? If you listen to a song and can tell that it's not your thing and you really don't even relate to it then let it slide. i'm not saying your opinion doesn't matter. I am sayin that when you dis a song that you obviously can't relate to that other people like then you should expect a little disagreement here and there. I think it's interesting that the approval ratings on this song can be divided into age groups...

i do not judge a track by how much it has the crowd jumpin. i judge by qualiy. 3-4 mins @*#$! around with a good slicing software, a basic synth software and a couple of digital filters and there you go. WHERE'S THE HARD WORK U WERE TALKING ABOUT DJ Z????uhmmmmmm... not there... no.

The first thing I notice when I hear this is the beat(which is tight) overpowers the lyricists. To me it's ok. Just alright. Nothing special about it.

this guy has talent saying that hes unsigned and the is a demo from him. i think if he signed with a label and worked with some good producers and song writers he'd be ill. but as for this its just ok
