Although Wood Boi is an underground artist, you can truly say he’s “Hollywood.” No, not the star-studded L.A. kind, the city in South Florida. In his new single, Back to the Money, Wood divulges his money-making experiences (at age 17), but in a more creative way than most. Cool & Dre protégé C-Ride chips in to add his own air of freshness, laying down his lines similarily to Pushin’ and Sittin’ On My Porch. With a typical Track Bangas’ Miami bass beat and a few vocoder ad libs (sounding suspiciously like T-Pain), Back to the Money will definitely get major spins in South Florida. Who knows, Wood Boi might also be the newest artist in his region to get a major deal?
I had to double check the featured artist in the first few seconds of the song because C-Ride sounds so much like Pain. It looks to me that Wood Boi is just following the trends that have already been proven to be successful. Gotta be more creative than that, bro.
Anyone who is afraid to give a rating of a 2 or 3 doesn't need to worry about making it sound like this song, or any song for that matter, is bad. If you give a rating of a '3' that means it most likely is something you wouldn't be surprised to hear on the radio. With all that said... this is a 3.
He does look like a young buck! But I like the chorus, and I am feeling the beat. I can bang to this. Lyrics is pretty tight as well...I wouldn't mind hearing more from him.
