Wizdom - Something I Can Roll To
Artist: Wizdom
Producer: D.Focis
Album: D.Focis Presents: Wizdom
Label: Facemusic
Craving some sunny, old-school-informed hip-hop perfectly suited to vibe out to during a leisurely drive through the city streets? Wizdom can relate. On this newly-leaked mixtape inclusion, making its world premiere right here in the Booth, the Chi-town native makes a heartfelt plea for dope music – “I just need Something I Can Roll To.” – and proceeds to answer his own prayers. Booth-acclaimed emcee-producer D.Focis (whose boardwork also backed Wizdom’s first feature, Real Life Swagger) serves up a laid-back groove driven by handclap percussion, brassy synths, and soulful sampled vocals as the headliner delivers his boastful bars (“I’m so vicious with the ink pen/ dog I do this, you just think it”) and Floridian up-and-comer Tha Mr., previously seen on D.Focis’ In the Beginning, brings a little Southern flavor on the middle verse. If this standout track gets your head bobbing (and I can’t see why it wouldn’t), you can find plenty more hot new tunes on the headliner’s aptly-titled D. Focis Presents: Wizdom street album, released today.

Excellent vibe, very enjoyable boardwork, and some underrated rhymes. Wizdom has a lot of knowledge to share (like what I did there? ha - rappers aren't the only ones who can get creative with their words).

This beat reminds me of some 1990 RZA Sick $hit...I like his flow better in the second verse. He definitely sounds like a chi-town rapper. Rotation...

Yo, that picture is like an optical illusion. I had to stare at it for a minute before I could see his face. Either that or I'm drunk. Frankly both are possible.
Anyway, I have to be real. Enjoying this, but not blown away. Maybe is Wizdom brought a little more flow to his delivery it's connect better. Solid cut. |

The beat is basic but the song is ridiculous. The combination of hot lyrics delivered with strong energy mix'd with that beat makes this track solid in rotation. 3 + .05 cuz it's something I can roll to, bob da head to, and lean wit.
