It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Facemusic representatives Wizdom and D.Focis, but those who have been holding their breath for more new material from the burgeoning indie label ever since their last Booth appearance can finally exhale (if you’re not, you know, dead after not breathing for three months). Today, we’re proud to present the world premiere of I Don’t Wanna Be, the inaugural leak off the label’s forthcoming compilation mixtape. Here, D.Focis crafts a characteristically intricate, synth-driven instrumental as Wizdom and Cleveland R&B songstress April Lane engage in a little romantic back-and-forth; while Lane’s ready to take the plunge into total commitment, the Chi-town rapper is feeling a little more reluctant: “Sure, it sound all good from the start, but I’m grown / and I know that you’ve got my best intentions at heart, but things go wrong.” Digging this track’s combo of spaced-out sounds and engaging flows? You can look forward to hearing plenty more from Focis, Wizdom, and the whole crew on D. Focis Presents WFAC Facemusic Radio, when it hits the net June 3.

Kobe Bryant makes his teammates better basketball players. Likewise, D. Focis makes the artists he works with better emcees. Wizdom, to be honest, is a middle of the road rapper with plenty of potential. However, with Focis behind him, he transforms into a an artist who takes control of a record.

At times his vocal approach and delivery made me think he'd fit in with a few of the Bone brothers. I'm a fan.

Wizdom was alright on this track. Nothing really stood out to me as amazing. D. Focis' production was a big plus. Nice and smooth. Hook was not good... at all. I would have preferred to hear someone else on it instead. This is just OK.

April Long gave a very nonchalant chorus. I felt like there was a distinct separation between her and Wizdom on the chorus-verse transitions. She added a little emotion at the end, but it came too late. I agree with DJ Z, D.Focis' production complemented Wizdom nicely

I'm a fan of spaced out music. April is great addition to this song and I really enjoy the opening verse to this song. Focis takes this song and runs with it while still allowing his fellow emcee keep up with him. Now that's teamwork. I think production should have stood out more and had something where there was a break.

Wizdom and the production were pretty good, but I wasn't really liking the hook.

Verses were most definitely on point. Enjoyed the switch-up in the beat for the chorus as well. Nice.

@The5JAY13 - What do you feel the production was missing? I get that feeling with records sometimes, I know what you mean.

The second verse was my highlight. Loving the fast delivery. Some people take a slow paced beat and their flow matches it. Wizdom's fast verses (especially his high speed section in the second verse) raise the song's likability. April complimented Wizdom nicely. Wished they could have raised the volume of her vocals a bit but it fit the mood of the song. Not something that I would rotate but worthy of a three star rating.

@The5Jay and Z, I feel like the beat is missing something too. I think it could use a more pronounced bassline throughout. It sort of starts off heavy, then lightens up for a couple bars and then come in strong at the end of the loop.

Lot of basketball analogies from Z today (see the Plies track), but I couldn't disagree more. Kobe rarely makes his teammates better.

Instead, D. Focis is more of a John Stockton - he sets up other folks better than almost anyone else. This beat's smooth as hell, and Wizdom definitely come with it.

I'm adding an extra star for April Lane. Goddamn what a voice! That hook's a burner. Let's hear more from her.

Damn, I had to listen to this twice just to hear what he was saying. Beat is relaxing, but the hook didn't sound that good.

I think the production could of been better but at the same time its a nice chill song. Wizdom has what it takes for these R&B style rapping songs. His lyrics are fast but at the same time he can tell a great story. However, the hook was pretty mediocre. I'm still diggin this though.

Wizdom's spitfire flow is pretty seamless, and works well over Focis' laid back production. Something about the chorus doesn't mesh for me. Rotation none the less.

Damn! feedback is all over the place. Well, here is my take on it!

Wizdom’s fast-paced approach to the slow-grinding beat doesn't quite work for me. Besides that I like everything bout this and was well vibin' with the feel and ambiance of the music entirely. Rotation-Stuff!

D.Focus delivered on the production, not really a fan of the meaningless radio intros and interruptionsm hook really doesnt stand out and this didnt sound like the right match for a track for Wizdom.
