Like newspapers, the stock market and Ron Browz’ career, the future isn’t looking bright for major record labels. Think about it: if you’re a talented artist, like say Wiz Khalifa, why give creative control and most of the profits to a major when you can just go independent and drop your new single This Plane on DJBooth.net? Exactly. Having left Warner Bros. to pursue an independent grind, Khalifa is preparing to release his new latest album Deal or No Deal (get it?) on the strength of tracks like This Plane, a spacey joint produced by E Dan that proves that without or without a major label’s backing, the man can still spit with the best of them: “Still they hate and talk smack, knowin if I was gone they’d have no one to throw their rocks at.” Will tracks like This Plane be enough to finally launch Khalifa’s career into orbit?  Still waiting for Wiz to drop that album, hope it comes soon. In the meantime, he is still impressing me with every effort. This is single material right here, with a very well done mastered beat and some well planned words on the mic. Loved Wiz's approach on here, this is a hit.

I couldn't be happier that Wiz decided to ask for his release from WB. Not that I don't think he could make it at a major label level (well, because he is better than most major label signees as of late), but he needs to be able to simply do him. "This Plane" is Wiz doing just that. And that is why we like him so much...

What up all I have been a big Khalifa fan since he first came out! love his style and Z he has been his own man with every track Ive heard he almost always has a dance/techno beat on his joints. I love it! It takes true talent to lay down quality lyrics to a beat that can make lovers of all different genras(sp?) move their feet. Big Ups to Khalifa!

I was a massive fan of Say Yea, so I didnt have a problem with major label Khalifa, it sucked that WB wouldnt give his album the green light.
