While building up a strong following thanks to his hit singles Say Yeah and Make It Hot (both of which have topped our Rap Charts), Pittsburgh’s Wiz Khalifa is busy putting the finishing touches on his debut album, First Flight. Before the project is released, however, the emcee will unleash a mixtape with DJ Deez, entitled Star Power. For the project, Wiz has created an anthem for those obsessed with their tattoos, Ink My Whole Body. As he has done on both the aforementioned singles, in-house producer Johnny Juliano once again delivers with an 8-bit music-sampled beat that should continue to impress those who have flocked to Wiz so far. The Star Power Mixtape drops tomorrow, September 16, while First Flight should be touching down in the first quarter of ‘09.
Wiz actually makes hits and I like this one too. His lyrics are above average but once again that doesnt mean much, considerring what the average is. Reagardless, I like this one and actually think its bangin.
haha my boy wiz is doin his thing i cant wait for starpower and first flight. I gotta give johnny juliano, big mike nd sledgren mad credit together with wiz their makin the next big artist
I really like the production. Johnny Juliano did his thing. Wiz Khalifa is okay. He doesn't seem that sincere to me. He's certainly not absent of skill though. He has a pretty good flow and an original vocal presence. I guess he'll have to grow on me. Do you notice how he pronounces words correctly? LOL...like adding the "er" at the end of his word of choice in the hook? LOL...that really caught my attention. I actually like his originality.
The beat sounds like Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis type of sample mixed with some hi-hats, kicks, and snares. This isn't as good as some of the other songs I heard from Wiz BUT this is playable. Right now Wiz is sorta fresh.
Johnny Giuliano did a good work on here, but the song itself is boring. A good production and a good rapper aren't enough for me to completely enjoy a song...There isn't a catchy chorus, anything I could remember after listening to this! Pity because I loved Make You High, I listen to it every day
If this makes an album, I'm sure that the into will be changed. It's pretty whack. Not to mention I'm not a huge fan of intro's more than a few seconds long anyways. But the rest is totally straight. Wiz is the most articulate new rapper I've heard in a while. His flow is off the hook. And Johnny J definitely laid down some fired on the beats.
Johnny Juliano and Wiz go together like PB&J. I know I said the same thing about Dream and Tricky, but this analogy simply applies here as well. I am not personally interested in marking up my whole body, or any of my body, but the song is entertaining. That is the sign of a talented artist.
2nd you on that BDF, the intro is retarded.. this song doesn't stand out to me as much as Make It Hot, i listened to that song over and over lol, Average Track
WOW he took Willie the Kids - The Real beat and barely changed it (unless V12 The HItman and Johnny Juliano are the same person which i doubt) but it works for this track so I give it a Big up
lol i like tha begin-n. and to show support to him i requested make it hot on tha readio and they played it (for the takeover on KUBE93 Seattle/Tacoma) HA...there u go Wiz!...but thiz iz jus aight for me.
This tracc is mad smooth, Wiz is really on fire rite now.. I was really diggin the whole techno beat thing he was doin wit the last two singles, but i'm glad to kno thats not his limits and he can come hard on a different beat ya feel me.. big ups to Khalifa
its the first time in a long time that i heard anybody say "mother @*#$!" and not "motha" ...i guess i need to get out more often
Juliano is the man with this beat but here i go with the chorus' opinion...is it that hard to come up with a reasonably good and catchy hook? i mean dudes writing whole 3 verse songs, do they not think the hook is important? i dont @*#$! get it..songs is tight though..excuse my ramblings
The hook isn't very good, whic his the only reason I give it a 3 instead of 4. The song is banger-status everywhere else. Wiz's flow is hella cool, kinda like Too $hort. The beat is sick, once again. This Johnny Juliano is doin some good stuff.
dis some "chillin at da bois backyard, throwin down some yuenglings on a hot sunday afternoon, enjoyin' a bbq while baNGn out a few hands of dominos" type music..haha..its a'ight
