If you’ve had a chance to check out our brand new Booth Freestyles Chart, you’re already aware that Wiz Khalifa‘s recent contribution, Runnin’, sits at number two, just a hair behind K. Sparks’ Soul Child (if you haven’t, go ahead and take a look—I’ll wait). It’s clear that our readers can’t get enough of the Pittsburgh emcee, so, without further ado, we present the latest leak off his forthcoming Flight School mixtape. Here, Wiz proves he’s got economic savvy to match his on-the-mic prowess, suggesting a simple yet elegant approach to ending our current recession: “Got no money? Get Sum!” Okay, okay, that advice might not solve all our problems, but it does serve as a perfect springboard into three verses’ worth of off-the-wall wordplay. Complete with an infectiously videogamey, danceable but never repetitive instrumental by Johnny Juliano, Get Sum should earn Khalifa another round of positive reviews in the Booth, and help ensure his mixtape flies off (virtual) shelves come April 17th.

Strong mixtape track; hopefully Wiz's album will be a bit stronger than what's demonstrated here though. It's in rotation; wouldn't call it a banger.

The beat is really catchy and although the hook and Get Sum voice gets annoying this track is good. Wiz brings some hot rhymes nice track right here

I respect Wiz Khalifa's artistic vision to combine his hip-hop background with dance-influenced beats. "Get Sum" never gets boring - the song's structure is constantly changing and keeps the listener on his toes.

I was expecting the production on this to be uber gay, but then it KICKED it and BAM, its BANGINNN!! Im lovin the production, the gamey type feel of it is what makes it thump in the car, Wiz has been up on my list for awhile, I always love the productions on his songs, and Wiz never disappoints, BANGERR!!

Oh snap. I really support Wiz in everything he does, but this song is infectious. Even better that it's a mixtape cut; I could deal with this as a replacement for a number of album cuts. Tight rhymes, great production. Can't wait for the mixtape of the album

It speaks volumes of the support Wiz has from the DJBooth community... because 9 out of 10 emcees who come with a song that discussing "gettin some money" get 2's.
This is a solid mixtape track with great wordplay and as Richard so poetically pointed out a 'danceable but never repetitive instrumental by Johnny Juliano.'

Woah that beat came out of nowhere. Anyone else feel like he sounds JUST like young jeezy at the start. Actually the more I listen to it the more I feel like he is biting off of Jeezy's style. On the 2nd verse he sounds original though, and I really do like the song so....

Impressive, although probably not literally "classic" I'm feeling this track.
Beat is nice and I like how it changes between each verse and the hook. Lyrics are good, like normal, from Wiz. The hook is catchy. What more do you want? |
