You’ll be hard pressed to find two artists hotter at the moment than Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean. The Pittsburgh native is at an all-time high, catching another gust of wind after the Super Bowl and his color-oriented single finding new life. Now, Wiz continues to build his buzz by dropping his long awaited mixtape Cabin Fever, seemingly out of nowhere. One of the project’s standout tracks, GangBang, showcases the young artist’s gradual shift toward a new sound. Produced by Lex Luger, the instrumental is packed with heavy bass and quick-strike snares that set a bombastic stage for the braggadocio emcees. Khalifa doesn’t exactly impress lyrically - with his vocabulary mainly consisting of “hos”, “money” and “b*tch”- but he isn’t really expected to impress. Instead his addictive flow and confident presence is enough to hold you over until the catchy hook arrives. Enter: Big Sean. Throwing out punch-lines like John Wall dishing out assists, the G.O.O.D. Music signee brings more flaunt and a heavier lyrical game to the record. GangBang is head-nodding music, with enough-confidence-to-cheat-on-your-girlfriend lines over ignorant drums. I keep it short and sweet on Sunday evening...
The mixtape was slightly underwhelming - that is what success does, it breeds high expectations - but this record bangs (pun intended).

Pretty sold on the mixtape, a great treat for fans, and this is the highlight of the effort. I think Sean went harder than Wiz on this, but that's just me. Overall it's a solid bass-heavy record that fans can enjoy until Rolling Papers.

This is pretty mindless. I like the simple, bass-heavy beat, but I enjoyed Wiz's recent "On My Level" more than this track.
Like "On My Level," it's nothing special when it comes to lyrics. I guess I'm just not feelin this one as much as the other reviewers. |

I'm sure I'll get tired of those booming Lex Luger beats, but for the time being, I can't get enough. So while Wiz' verse is forgettable, it's enough in combination with Sean's punchlines to have me rocking. Dope.

Maybe i havnt listend to enough Wiz but i think this is the best ive heard him rhyming. Big Sean was dope as always. Bt Lex Luger is just lazy.

At least Wiz is rapping. Im worried the label situation is screwing this dude up. Kush and O.J. was one of the best, most successful indie albums in recent years, and for some reason, his label is trying to change this dudes sound.

Wiz needs to beef up his lyrics before he beefs up the bass. I've been disappointed the past few releases. C'mon Young Khalifa! Wasn't feelin Sean in this one either. Maybe my ears are just having an off morning.
