I despise people who leak music. Sometimes a record is just meant to be heard and received in the way its creator intended. Therefore, when Pittsburgh star and DJBooth Freestyle Alum Wiz Khalifa’s first single (off of his yet-to-be-titled Rostrum/Atlantic debut album) subsequently leaked yesterday, I was greatly disappointed. Not by the song’s content, but by the manner in which it was initially presented. Once word spread, though, Wiz immediately took to Twitter and announced that he would be releasing the official version of Black and Yellow at midnight. Produced by hit-making team Stargate, Khalifa’s latest is a chest pounding nod to the colors of his football-crazed hometown, released just in time for Steelers season. How good is the song? You can say that Wiz plays Franco Harris on this one: turning a seemingly terrible situation into an outstanding win for his team. Black and Yellow is a truly special song, if not just because of how dope it is, then it overcame the possibility of being just another leak. With hit-potential written all this one, Black and Yellow is sure to get an immaculate reception.

While I would have liked the song a lot more if it was called "Navy Blue and Orange" (yes, I am a die hard Chicago Bears fan), I can't hate on Wiz. Everything he does musically he stays true to himself. This is no different. I wish him the best on his second major label go round.

...never heard of wiz? did you just buy a computer? He stays true to his home and as suspected Atlantic most likely will keep him off the weed subject.

@Fuego89 what you said almost made me pass out. Wiz has the most versatile flow in the game. He has a new flow every song he's on, peep him for a bit.

Interesting how much audiences change based on the site. When I put this up on RefinedHype the consensus from the Wiz fans seemed to be that this was an ok record, but they were a little concerned that the label was "swaggerify" Wiz's flow and sound. I have to agree with the consensus.

When he's on his "I'm so rich, I'm so fly" tip I just don't think he stands out from the crowd as much.

Solid effort from Wiz, you can tell this was refined by a major label though.

Sometimes it's not all about the message in the song, folks. The beat is sick and Wiz's flow goes nicely with it. Let Wiz get his "Black and Yellow" on. Banger.

I never really even bothered to listen to this guy before until I saw Wiz was on the Rock the Bells tour this year, I guess he’s pretty decent. IMO his best song was his first single in 07 “Pittsburgh Sound.”

Wiz is the ultimate smoke too rapper (him and currency)... to hear him not even talk about weed once and still make a banger i think proves this guy might make it mainstream!!!! and anyone(fuego89) that dont realize his flow you need too blaze one already...
