On February 3rd, the Patriots and Giants will compete for the Lombardi Trophy in Glendale, Arizona. While that game will take center stage, another competition continues to brew in the Valley of the Sun; G-Unit‘s Young Hot Rod and Black Wall Street‘s Juice have been joined by DTP signee, Willy Northpole, in the race for Arizona’s Hip-Hop bragging rights. With an original flow (let’s call it conversational), Northpole talks about the ink all over his skin and the meaning behind it on Body Marked Up. Producer Wonka provides a beat strong enough to be an appropriate backdrop, but soft enough to make listeners focus on Northpole’s flow. Willy’s debut album, Tha Connect, is tentatively set to drop later this year.
He sounds like Arizon's Version of Jay-Z! He sounds really relaxed for someone we never heard of before, but it gives him swagger. The beat is really good once again! Wonka does excellent work on them boards. I need to hear more from Willy Northpole on a different beat to really know if he is the new truth or not. Sounds good so far though.
mmoore1127, yes it is a Weezy sample! It's from his verse from Destiny's Child's "Soldier." Anyway, this will get spins, as '08 should be a BIG year for DTP!
Does sound a little like Jay-Z but with a southern touch. The beats aiight, got to listen to it in the ride though before the final call. Talking about going to New York and all he has to say is "50" Do you think the dude really knows fifty? just a thought.
