In September of ’06, DJ Drama’s Aphilliates Music Group signed a major distribution deal with WMG’s Asylum Records. Later this year, the first project under this label marriage will be released, courtesy of the “Crown Prince,” Willie The Kid. No stranger to the rap game, Willie has been penning records for over ten years and has appeared on a plethora of Drama’s AMG mixtapes. Although his debut won’t be hitting store shelves until this winter, Willie has graciously provided us with a taste of what is to come. On the V12 The Hitman-produced The Real, the Michigan-born lyrical-visionary reassures listeners that he too is tired of the “bulls**t” and will “put you on some real s**t.” Though his stage name includes the title “kid,” Willie’s skills are anything but childish.
Am i getting some names mixed up? :S.. willie the kid and gillie the kid?.. anyways..
i think this guys rhymes are wack.. i'd rather listen to an eigth grade class rhyming their poetry lesson.
I like the beat here! Willie is not that bad yall! lighten up on the kid! yea sure he should change his name, but then again I got usta young jezzy's name and I thought that was the wackest fake snoopslang name I had ever heared, now he one of my favorites! I think dude has promise!
Man, all the tracks on DJBooth today are over flowing with SOUL and I love it! Willie The Kid rides the beat perfectly. His flow doesn't get tired and the listener is able to follow his story all the way through the end. Jazz-rap is the greatest genre combination in music...ever.
I didn't know Willie The Kid had a label...well anyway this beat is amazing and the flow is flawless...I agree TONE+Chef, the jazz-rap combo is incredible...good stuff!
This is STREET MUSIC! I like the horns on the background (the saxophone is killing 'em). This is a nice fusion of HIp Hop and Jazz, reminds me of some of GURU's Jazzmatazz albums. Willie The Kid did a an ok job; his lyrics were not that spectacular. However, the beat made up for his underachieving rhyming. V12 is true to his name: The Hitman! The Booth made my night. What a treat. Thank you!!! An OFFICIAL SLAMMER!
Willie The Kid has it in him! This makes me think of "People". It IS a great combination. I feel what he saying. He sounds like a child version of Lupe, which I didn't notice when listening to Gangsta Grillz.
^ in that pic of donjonjon in the glasses, kind of looks like omar gooding's younger bro
No pun intended son, jk lol.
Anyhow...not bad, not bad...2.5 from me.
Whoa this beat is pretty sick. I saw TONE+Chef's comment about the great jazz-rap combo and I decided to give this a listen. Overall the song is pretty sick. The only thing that keeps it from bein perfect is it needs a better hook. Willie does flow well on this track, too. Can't wait to hear more from him.
Cant believe nobody except MuzzieBoi notices how amazingly similar to Lupe Fiasco this guy's flow is! Production is REALly GOOD, blew my mind away! And he has something real to say. Make room for Willie!
Wow now this is some real sh*t here. The production, flow, lyrics is all on point. Nothing bad about this track. He's a breath of fresh air. I love the Hip-Hop Jazz sound. My father actually owns one of Guru's Jazzmatazz tapes. I didn't even know he bought it until a few years ago.
Yeah pretty good man, know what im saying,
The beat aint as heavy as other beats ive heard, it dont have that bass in it thats heavy but it fly as a motherfucker
This track is in rotation now. the beat is on point and a good departure from this main stream bs. beat reminds me of something 9th wonder would do or maybe J-Live. flow kinda like lupe which is good thing
