On September 30, DJ Drama/Don Cannon protégé Willie The Kid will be releasing his debut album, Absolute Greatness, via Aphilliates Music Group/Asylum Records. A Grand Rapids native and current Atlanta resident, Willie knows his city is a crowded market, yet one character trait sets him apart from the rest: he is more Driven than his peers. WTK proves this point with powerful lyrics, over the electric guitar production of the DS Bros (Vess Dynamick & Ron Boogie). Driven should be excellent warm-up music for upcoming sporting events (right alongside Remember The Name and We Made It). While Willie the Kid might be overshadowed by Tip, Kuntry, Thicke, and J-Hud for the September 30 drop charts, he certainly has enough passion for the music to compete with all four of them.
Maybe I am silly, but he's flow is similar to that of Nas in Hero...man they are really similar and I won't change my mind! I'm feeling the rock beat, but I'm not sure it fits his flow. Good the part where there's a man yelling in the background! Good also the final, instrumental part, I love electric guitars...It's an overall good work, in rotation
I always love when I hear a song with a real tight beat and am unfamiliar with the producers. Such is the case with DRIVEN, as I have never heard of Vess Dynamic & Ron Boogie. A guest accompaniment would have helped WTK here, because I don't think he matches up well with the production. Good work, just not necessarily a good fit.
I'm feeln this song alot,
WTK did a great job with what he has, and the production is actually pretty hot, i've heard of Ron Boogie before, but not Vess, and the beat to this is crazyyyy with the guy yellin as Patty pointed out, I'll check his album out.
Whoa!! Are you guys even listening to the same thing. This song is perfectly created. Good beat and WTK's lyrics are really good. Good review, i can see this song definitely pumpin me up before a basketball game
