Wiley - Cash in My Pocket ft. Daniel Merriweather
Artist: Wiley
Featuring: Daniel Merriweather
Producer: Mark Ronson
Album: See It Clear Now
Label: Eskibeat/Atlantic
U.K.’s own Wiley has made a stateside splash with his new single, Cash in My Pocket. Following his debut album, Treddin’ On Thin Ice, which showcased his innovative electronic production style, world-renowned producer Mark Ronson has stepped behind the boards to let the versatile lyricist get busy. Since a Ronson co-sign can go a long way (see Amy Winehouse, Rhymefest and Wale), Wiley goes absolutely dumb on the record, bridging the gap between grime and rap with a dash of old school doo-wop. While the musical marriage sets up anticipation for Wiley’s second album, See Clear Now (which drops overseas in January), it also serves as a notice that the emcee is serious about making that skrilla.

For some strange reason, Americans have such a hard time learning to appreciate others (from outside the U.S.) rap style and sound.
Wiley has skills, regardless of his delivery or accent. Ronson does what he has been doing for years... kill it behind the boards. |

This is N.E.R.Dish. You know what I think Z. It's the accent. It just sounds so weird hearing British rapping. Maybe its just me. I dig dizzy rascal though, Dude is ill. This right here is kinda catchy. That hook is awful yet tolerable if that makes any sense. I kinda like this.

Mmm no this isn't my type of song. It's fresh but I wouldn't listen to it again! It has a kinda cool beat, though, and they sing & rap good. Hook is weird, I like those voices in the background. 2,5

Wow, the chorus (if that's what it was... sucks)
I don't like the singing at all, the voice is obnoxiously annoying. |

I feel you DJ Z, people arent opening their minds enough to the UK grime! this is actually, I would say, Wiley at his worst! it's an okay tune, but he's definitely got much better songs on his albums. Gotta stay true to my roots though and give him a good rating, I grew up with this dude.
