Weapons of Audio - Kill My Boss
Artist: Weapons of Audio
Producer: SMKA
Album: Bipolar
Label: Unsigned
How appropriate that I grabbed this track after returning from an epic time at A3C this weekend (if you missed out, you did your ears an injustice). Of the many artists attending the festival, two standouts were Jeremy and Floyd, brothers that collectively make up Weapons of Audio and are making their debut on the Booth today. As far as eclectic goes, WoA is rewriting the definition of the word by keeping listeners guessing with a mix between hip-hop and electro-pop. You know what? It’s almost impossible to describe their sound, you’ll just have to listen to their new single Kill My Boss, a record that finds the dynamic duo bouncing around diverse production from Artist Sensey (of SMKA) that’s as humorously dark as it is creative: “So when my lunch break comes, Im’a go and get my gun/ headed back to the office, and I’m gonna have me some fun.” If you’re a fan (of not being a fan) of your boss, the workplace, or just work in general, be sure to keep a lookout for Audio when they drop their upcoming project, Bipolar, on October 21.

Sadly, I missed their set at A3C in Atlanta this past weekend (heard great things), but getting to feature this record (their first Booth feature) sorta makes up for it (right, guys?). Talk about catchy... this is a record that deserves radio spins. Sadly, with the current state of radio, and the FCC being highly against the killing of any bosses, I doubt that will happen.

Man SMKA stole the show here imo. Loving the background vocals with the often slight change of beat. WoA are different and you can notice that, I just hope their other music relates to this or maybe just blow me away. Very enjoyable.

Highly original on a beat that SMKA really perfected. Wouldn't mind seeing them signed.

As someone who's sitting on El-P's entire catalog believe me, I can handle dark and weird, but I have to say I'm not completely sold on this one. The beat, as always, is absolutely incredibly, but Weapons' violent, paranoid lyrics just aren't connecting.
Then again, maybe it's because I'm essentially my own boss. Three years ago I could have definitely related. |

Mmm wicked morbid hip-hop - as a writer of oddball horror and comedy I can totally vibe off the chilly imagery - can witness the entire video in my head now~! With the hypnotic slam dance groove and eerie melodies this has the makings of an underground classic such as Geto Boys best! This should be on all mixtapes asap - radio? They can't handle!

Dark. Beat is kinda nice but the lyrics remind of Eminem's "3 AM"
