Normally I wouldn’t bring up a ‘90s band like Better Than Ezra on a hip-hop site like The DJBooth, but when I first saw the title of Wax’s Rosana some strange synapse in my brain fired and I immediately thought of Ezra’s Rosealia, which is actually strangely fitting considering both songs are about…um…women whose names start with the letter R. Ok, so maybe the two songs don’t have that much in common, but if anyone should appreciate an off-kilter pop culture reference it’s Wax. Featuring production by Nobody Famous that bravely blends hip-hop percussion with mariachi strings and horns, Rosana finds the Scrublife author contemplating a woman who’s sexual appetite is even bigger than he can possibly manager: “Lotta joy, lotta pleasure, lotta pain, lotta misery / she turn me over she be draining me physically.” Excuse me if my sympathy is limited, I believe that’s what they call a good problem. Catchy, creative and often hilarious, this standout selection is an ample indication of what awaits listeners on Wax’s brand new album Eviction Notice, available for free stream and download right here, right now.

Probably my favorite song on Wax' new album... which is part of the reason it gets a homepage feature. I believe this song perfectly captures who Wax is as an artist: fun, crossover-ready, and in tune with that perfect mix of self and mainstream pull.

Wax is always a great listen. He is so diverse. One song will be a more standard hip hop song, then the very next will completely different. His ability to incorporate different styles so fluently is what impresses me most about Wax.

Are you serious?!? For real?!? Nah... I'll straight-up pass this like a dutch... Not feeling this in any way, shape, or form. Beat is cheesy, chorus is cheesy and I don't hear any real lyrical skill here.

I can't remember the last time I was this excited about an up and coming artist, Wax is just that good. Rosana is my favorite song on Eviction notice, this song is pure fun and I wouldnt expect anything less from Wax.

I know we all have our opinions but I can't for the life of me understand why anyone can't like this song. This is a dope cut. When I listened to the Mixtape this one stood out easily.

To me anything Wax touches is gold. I loved the freshness of this when I first heard it on Eviction Notice. If you can't appreciate this I'll have to assume that you have a very narrow definition of hip-hop. This is great music!

This song is so ridiculously catchy. If it comes on while I'm driving to work, it'll be stuck in my head the rest of the day. It's a fun song and, as others have said, it shows how diverse Wax is. I love it!
