Fifteen year veteran Warren G, the man who brought us the Nate Dogg-assisted party jam Regulate, is returning to the mainstream with a brand new project. Entitled The G Files, the album will be the sixth of the Long Beach, California native’s career and the first release off of his own G Funk label (with distribution via Koch). On the album’s lead single, Crush, Warren scoops up West Coast resident Ray J for the hook singing and tackles the production work himself. Though G’s new sound is unlike his past material, the emcee shows he is willing to roll with the changing music climate and provide a product that is both trendy and radio-ready.
Warren G is goin a little too mainstream on this one for me. He's one of the dudes from West Coast that I respect because of his past albums. This one is a step back, but still a pretty good track.
Hmm.. I was expecting much more from Warren G. Not really feeling this one too much. Wheres that west coast sound? Not really sure what he's trying to achieve with this one..
Not feelin the production on first listen. Bring back the G-Funk man. MF will loose they mind if you came back with that G-Funk again. Especially in this BS era of synthesizers and voice boxes. REGULATERRRRRRRS! MOUNT UP! Bring it back man. You and Quik know ya'll can do better than this music ya'll hittin us wit!
I love the hook and the songs gonna be getting alotta spins from me but this isnt what i was expecting at all. He was definitely going for a more mainstream feel with this but I hope he sticks with the old school Gfunk on the rest of the album
i like his delivery. it still has the old school flow but in an updated song. anyways the song the song is straight. girls will love this. in rotation for me but for the women its a banger, ray-j's voice is smoooth on this.
Warren J put on some pounds fam. This production is trash. Ray-J sounds smooth, but this doesn't even sound like Warren G anymore. I don't know if I can get down with this.
Warren G comes through with the dope production and delivery. Even though, I'll rather prefer the old school Warren, this song is still smooth and laid back... definitely radio friendly. In rotation.
Good song but not excellent. From the beginning I expected more! Warren G and Ray J sound good together, but there's something which doesn't convince me...maybe the beat, coulda been better in my opinion! In rotation
Warren still has the same flow but the beat doesn't do it for me. Rau J does a good job on the hook. Just not the type of song I would expect from the G Child
