In my coverage of Wale‘s May 17th show in Minne-ap, one detail that didn’t seem notable enough to mention, but that both the headliner and opener Muja Messiah pointed out during their sets, was that the attendees were overwhelmingly male; there were maybe eight ladies in the house, half of whom worked at the venue. Perhaps in an attempt to attract a few more girls—Pretty Girls, in particular—to his gigs, the D.C. buzzmaker has released a new track (I quote, “This isn’t a “single single,” but if it catches on…”) dedicated to the fairer sex. Best Kept Secret serves up a bombastic Go Go beat as the rapper regales the ladies with swagger-drenched come-ons. Lyrically, Wale stays well within his comfort zone, but his bouncy flow is as crowd-pleasing as ever, and the hook (borrowed from the Moments & Whatnauts’ Girls) won’t fail to take root in listeners’ heads. Complete with a bridge liable to start catfights on the dancefloor (“Ugly girls be quiet… pretty girls clap like this!”), PG will doubtless have listeners of both genders bobbing their heads, and stir up anticipation for the Q3 arrival of Attention: Deficit. Still waiting on "Chillin" to blow up, since that is a surefire hit, but in the meantime some new Wale doesn't hurt. The flow was pretty predictable on here, but I liked the way he went over that hot production. It's a 3, nothing amazing but smooth/energetic at the same time. Very enjoyable.

Wale has been making some hot joints lately. This is one of them. Production is what makes this 4 me, stadium music here, love to hear Kanye on the remix. This should get some spins, however, it ailenates, ugly chicks, and chicks who are hot but believe they're ugly. The beautifully challenged need love too...

If my money was behind Wale's project, I would have dropped this as a dual single. This appeals to the ladies, it appeals to radio, it appeals to the club, and the man's flow is undeniably catchy.
Wale told me this morning that they would push this if it caught on... people, let's make this catch on.

The production is good & Wale is always tight on the mic. This is the sorta track that always seems to catch on so I wouldnt be shocked to see this get the single treatment in the future. 3.5 |

Yeah, Lady Gaga is so F'in big right now you think that would help make the record blow up. I'm still suprised I haven't even ATLEAST heard it on the radio once.
Wale sounds real nice on this and as Z said they should push this hard as a single. |

After a long time rooting for him, I've found that I am tired of Wale's flow. I loved his "swag" when he first came out and was really rootin for him, but I'm just not feelin his flow. Don't get me wrong, I like his style and his lyrics are normally pretty hot; I just feel like he needs to work on his delivery.
That bein said I loved the production and that's what pushes this to rotation. This track is super catchy and the hook sample is hot. |

ay wale definately puttin dc on da map.. im form dc myself and know several people who went to school with wale..cool cat. This definately has that sort of go go swag that we get down to in dc and espcially the clappas.. big in dc.. flow is wassup and its sumethin different and it puts dc on the map that we do got go go and rappas but i would ove more songs with this vibe.. there should be more rappers like this
