Wale - 2nd Time Around ft. Brother Ali
Artist: Wale
Featuring: Brother Ali
Producer: DJ Benzi
Album: 10.Deep & DJ Benzi: The New Deal Mixtape
Label: Board Administration/MMG/Warner Bros.
2nd Time Around, a newly-released mixtape cut from underground star and DJBooth favorite Wale, finds the Seinfeld-loving emcee teaming up with Brother Ali, one of the most recognizable faces on the Murderapolis, MN hip hop scene. On this lyrically-driven record, DJ Benzi‘s low-key production serves as a backdrop over which the two collaborators showcase their stark differences in style: while Wale flexes his muscles with a recursive flow, weaving a lyrical spiderweb impossible to unravel at first listen, Brother Ali spits an all-out assault on the mainstream rap establishment, admonishing hip-hop artists for glamorizing conspicuous consumption during tough economic times (in addition to a litany of other crimes). If you like what you’re hearing, you’re in luck; 10.Deep & DJ Benzi: The New Deal Mixtape drops today, and is available for free download at 10deep.com.

Lol Lame. Yea I second that although we need a version with better quality. I won't judge the song by that in any way, but please turn the beat up. Wale sounds like he's freestyling here. Bro Ali has always impressed me with his flow.

Haha damn BDF you're right, although they should just turn down them vocals, way too loud. Maybe they wanted to highlight and point out how hot of a flow Wale has on this here, but I doubt it. This one is pure hotness though. Lovin the production for what I can hear of it. And now the rating ...(sips gatorade)...4 stars.

First of all...I GOTTA SAY: MINNEAPOLIS STAND UP! Brother Ali on the feature! That's what's up! I definitely think we need a higher quality...but it's all good. It sounds like everything on a Little Brother album....the beat and the mix. Wale did okay. He really wasn't spitting a bunch of SUPER GREAT lines. It did sound like a freestyle...but it sounds like a superb mixtape quality track. LOL...I didn't know what condescending meant till yesterday! Hahaha! BUT YO....BROTHER ALI SMASHED THE TRACK. He definitely out-shined Wale. I didn't want him to stop yo! He was killing it! WE NEED MORE BROTHER ALI MUSIC IN THE BOOTH!

Wale spits hard on this one and Brother Ali on the same song almost guarantees a sick song. I like the beat and the melody arent overpowered w/ bass and allows the lyrics to stand out and be understandable. This is fresh!

@ LAMELEON - you never let me down with your feedback.
Wale was nice, but lets talk about Brother Ali for a second. This man's career is the definition of underrated. He is GREAT on this joint. ... I agree MH, we need more B.A. I promise to make that happen! |

Wale is always nice, and with Brother Ali on this, it was destined to be great. Beat is nice too, but I agree with BDF, the beat sounds a little low, but that doesnt stop this from easily being a banger.

Why are they yelling at me, I'm a foot away from my speakers. Ali ripped this and Wale came correct.

Wale stays lyrically inclined "I play the background whole time Mario 3" I mean who thinks of that..dope...and Ali was spittin fire...definitely need more tracks from him up here...oh yeah one more thing...is it just me or does Ali sound like skillz on this..just his voice not his flow or his style

His flow his crazy but the production has something which doesn't convince me. The beat is good but maybe I don't like the sample!

Interesting combination.. Wale and Brother Ali? Hmm.. anyways, Wale holds it down for the DMV here. His style is crazy, literally, going everywhere with his lines. "I didn't know what condescending meant 'til yesterday, so I put in a rap to remember that.." lol hahahaha. Production is aight, nothing too spectacular, got like a megaman sample in there or some shit. Damn the Brother's presence definately SHINES on this track, his flow and delivery is essentially perfect. "ya'll are all safe n shit, ya'll are not sayin' shit, ya'll just snap your fingers and dance and make your label rich.." ew. This track is pretty nice, I'll be bumpin it.
