For those who like to view the world through those ubiquitous rose-colored glasses and try to see it for the good and the things that make us happy, Voli is here to remind us that it’s real out here. There are a lot of problems that face us as we plod through this crazy journey called life and Voli seems intent to tell us about every single one on the newly-released record, Prisoner. It’s clear that the DJBooth Freestyle Series alum commiserates with those who are struggling in one way or another. We’ve all had those times where we’ve been surrounded by wackness and it was like being incarcerated. Sometimes though, we create a prison in our minds. Prisoner speaks to all of those hardships, and speaks to them dopely over yet another quality beat from the dual-threat headliner himself. While this record is currently unattached to a larger project, look for more Voli soon, as he’s set to appear DJBooth’s collaborative album with SMKA, entitled The Report, set to drop on June 22.
