Despite the glut of hip hop subgenres emerging from the Chicago area in recent years, Vi is ready to break barriers with what he calls “hustler music.” The Windy City lyricist, who possesses a strikingly atypical stage name, was given his alias by the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes of TLC fame. Break U Off, a smooth, Cali-playeristic track courtesy of producers Brian Warfield and 1500, fuses a light, airy flute with a classic bass line; its like nothing we’ve ever heard before from a Chi City spitter. Vi’s debut album, Supposed to Be, is due out later this year.
I like this production a lot. Vi's flow is decent and different. It's real smooth and Chi-style. I will throw this in rotation and look out for more material from him.
I like the jazzy feel to this song. Brad Yong did a fine job singing. If you reverse the roles of the artists in this song--Brad Yong ft Vi--than this would of been a BANGER!
I'm lovin the production on this. Very soulful. That piano is bannanas. Vi's flow went well on this, I would love to hear Common and Slum Village on this one. Hot fire.
Like someone pointed out the flute is pretty neat. I'm not going to rate this song since I never heard them before but I'm liking. Would be around 3-4.
Shouts out to my Chi-town homie, Vi, who sent over this nice new track. I cannot help but brag my friends... Chicago just keeps coming with brand new out-of-the-box music! This is a solid listen; very enjoyable.
I don't like these kind of songs...the beat is cool but the song itself is boring! As nuttymac1 wrote, there isn't a catchy part so it is forgettable to me...I'm not feeling the chorus at all
i think this is a sexy song.
i actually just got an email bout this song on youtube. I really like the song very summer feel good sexy. def will be in the ride with me and my girls
Chicago keeps puttin out quality music. keep it up Vi
