It seems Def Jam just can’t have enough Atlanta artists on their roster. First there was Luda (and most of his DTP affiliates), then Jeezy, followed by The-Dream and most recently, Rocko. Now, the newest artist to join the label, who also hails from the A-Town, is Vawn (must be a last name). Benefiting from both his city and his new label home, Vawn offers up his newest single, Cuz I Hustle. Although his single is nothing previously unheard of from most of the above, the highlight is Purple Ribbon-turned-CTE hookman Scar and his unique vocals on the hook. Unfortunately, since Scar isn’t at the hook-o-fame levels of Akon or T-Pain (or even Sean Kingston), the uphill climb for Cuz I Hustle to receive airplay is substantial.
lol, wheres the rap, this song isnt garbage because the corus isn't bad and the production is good but just listen to the lyrics. its a combonation of a short line followed by a girl singing
Whoever produced this track really made a big mistake putting Vawn and Scar on the same record. Vawn's raspy flow does not compliment Scar's high-pitched vocals. I agree with DJ Yank, where are the 16 bars?! I don't need to hear constant male backdrops for over four minutes.
Get this rapper out of here. He's mad trash. Vawn sounds like Gorilla Zoe on the small bus, with Laryngitis. Scar is a beast with the vocals. The track gets a 1 officially, but it gets a two cuz the singing. With a way better rapper, this could have easily been a banger
scar did his job on this track can't say the same about vawn though. The way vawn flows would work on some of the beats rick ross uses but this one just dont fit 1.5 rating
Okay, 'hustling' was sooooo 2006! Its a new year, two past the 'hustle to get my money faze, and artists need to get on with the newest trend. Please... for the longevity of this great genre.
Lol. The high voice of Scar doesn't work well with Vawn's deep one. And like the first two commenters said (I hate coming late with everything), it's just a line followed by Scar's vocals.
tha beat on that one wuz pretty nice too...and tha singin wuz hot...but Vawn?...lol...thats a nother story...but tha "we pop more bottles than a hospital nursery" line wuz fresh tho...but everything else is headed to tha Waste Management center...cuz its GARBAGE!!!...~
Hey Burmy, you forgot T.I.!!!
But anyway; this track is pretty nice right here from a production/chorus standpoint. I think this guy's flow is so ordinary; but it kinda goes good with the track.
DJ Blaze, I was talking about Atlanta artists signing to Def Jam (Tip's on Atlantic). I couldn't make out half of what Vawn was saying...It's only not garbage because of Scar's hook...Next!
It's hot At first I thought Scar was El DeBarge! It'll get plenty of airplay. Chicks will love it. Don't hate on it. No he aint lyrical but who cares? All people want is something to bob they head to nowadays
