Before we listen to Usher’s new single OMG let’s take a moment to recognize that nothing less than the fate of text-related singles hangs in the balance. LOL Smiley Face was a travesty, but Ludacris recently revived the genre with his superb Sexting, so the way I see it, if OMG’s a hit it’ll inspire a new wave of text-related tracks, and if it flops, that’s pretty much the end of that. Personally, I just can’t make up my mind. will.i.am’s beat (and guest verse) is catchy enough to stick in your head without becoming aggravating, and while this is far from the best use of Usher’s vocal talents, at the very least he manages to turn the track into an entertaining musical ride. I’m definitely going to need a second opinion on this one. So Booth, is OMG a hit? Choose wisely, nothing less than the fate of text-related singles rests in your capable hands. OMG is the latest single off Usher’s long-awaited Raymond vs. Raymond album, due out March 30.

I know a lot of people will probably hate, but I thought it was enjoyable. I wish the whole thing was a little smoother like the intro but Usher was decent (though definitely nowhere near his best, like the blurb mentioned) and Will's beat and guest verse were tight. Rotation.

This isn't a song that Usher needed to do. Trey Songz? Yuuup. But not Ursher.
Is it just me or does will.i.am's song writing, production, and performance skills suffer when he is showcasing them for anyone BUT the Black Eyed Peas? I am not hating (repeat, not hating). Just asking? |

Different sound for Usher but this was enjoyable. Putting the expectations for Usher aside, this record could be a hit. Will.i.am never dissapoints on the beat and Ush carried it well with the vocals. Nowhere near his potential, but this will do.

A bit too busy for my tastes...first Usher did his lower-than-usual vocals, then Will.I.Am does his thing (complete with the "Let the beat rock,") then the beat has a catchy sports chant...All good elements, but not at the same time (Just like I wouldn't want a pizza, shrimp, and fettuchini-flavored ice cream dish).
I'll give it a 3 because they'd work individually... |

Im a fan of Usher, though Raymond vs. Raymond is shaping up to be his weakest album yet (by far). In pieces this is a good song, though overall it just dosnt work.

This started off just a little too calm to warrant an "OMG" but not bad overall. Probably won't listen to it again, but it has memorable moments.

will.i.am did a beast job with this beat but Usher totally bored me. Shouldn't have autotuned on this song--it was too boring for the fun beat.

Yeah, this is a differnt move for Usher but a bad one. Will.i.am's beat sounds like a leftover from The E.N.D. album and it dosen't fit nice over Usher's vocals. This might be big over in the UK but I couldn't picture it being a hit here.
@ Z, Will.i.am always sounds better with The Black Eyed Peas. |

@Z- ya, Will.i.am does sound better w/Black Eyed Peas bout 95% of the time. not bad production here tho. its very catchy.
is it jus me or is Rrrsher followin the Trey Songz formula from his latest release and tryin to get every track radio success. too many songs like this really brings an album down as it did on "Ready." i already kno a couple staff members who agree w/me on this one. |

Id probably download the instrumental of this for a party the production was a little above average. Usher bored me, especially in the beginning, Will.i.Am did good, but as for the whole text related songs, its a love hate thing, I just dont wanna see every artist coming out with one.

"All good elements, but not at the same time (Just like I wouldn't want a pizza, shrimp, and fettuchini-flavored ice cream dish)." - Burmy
I couldn't have said it better myself. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go listen to That's What It's Made For a reminisce about the days when Usher would have never made a track this bad. Sigh. |

I heard this about a couple or so months ago (without will.I.am's verse)...thot it was a dud at first! But it grew really quick on me...I think he should drop will.i.am for the single tho a la 'Hey Daddy!' This track will rip up in clubs...

i liked the quiet intro but when the first "omg" was sung, i was instantly swithced off. ill give it a two for the first bit and the production which is quite catchy but my respect for usher is rapidly dwindling

Wow Usher & co are failing hard with this album! The majority of it is on the net, and the stack of singles theve released havent been huge hits (even though they are awesome tracks; Lil Freak, There Goes My Baby)
This one is pretty standard pop/club fare. The bottom line i guess is that Usher just doenst make R&B classics anymore! Still, any Usher song is better than most of the shawty, take you to crib, patron sh!t that R&B artists seem to be pumping out! |

The rhythm is choppy enough to present a challenge to ordinary party people looking to get down to it OR it just might work out well.
It is a bit difficult to wrap your head around, but still its something I would label as catchy, has the potential to grow on ya. Damn! I'll put it in rotation. |

LOL OK?
yeah I agree with Z, not the type of track Usher needed to make. will.i.am does a great job on the beat though |

I really like this song, I think the hook and beat is infectious. I’ve been waiting for a while now to see if Usher can come up with anything decent. While the rest of the booth may not agree, this song sees Usher back on track.

I have been the biggest fan of usher since 8701 and its actually one of my favourite albums ever, however, this upcoming CD seems like a dud, I am very disappointed with Mr. Raymond. This song is ok and will make the radio and do something, but not what Love In this Club did for his last album.

I think everyone needs to realise that Usher probably does prefer doing his usual rnb joints but lately they havent been getting much success so what do you do? Release a song called OMG. Will.I.Am produces what i call 'tasteful pop' - it's pop with an urban edge and just better done that most. Im not saying this is great but it is definitely what Usher needs if he wants some success before the album comes out

It sounds like there is too much going on...one switch up is fine but 3/4/5 day-um...and the chanting can go (except for will's verse) it's i-ight at best...i want some more 8701/ confessions usher...perhaps its time to call lil john and luda, mr raymond!
