According to the most recent Soundscan report, Usher‘s sixth studio album, Here I Stand has sold 964,060 copies since it was released nearly three months ago. While these are impressive numbers for most artists, Usher’s standards would have had the project at platinum certification by now. Hoping to push the album to that threshold and beyond, Ush has released his third and fourth singles as a dual set; along with the previously-featured Trading Places, the title track shows exactly how he has changed. Previously the definition of playboy, Usher is now a committed husband and father, proud to say, “Here I Stand.” Accompanied by Dre & Vidal‘s slow and quiet production, Here I Stand makes perfect background music for just about any activity.
I have the album and in my opinion, there are better single choices than "Here I Stand." This song isn't bad, though. Its the last official song on the album and its a great closer. Dre & Vidal create a nice piano beat and Usher sings very well over it. M. Burmy is right about how its great background music, too. It would've been better, however, if Usher came out with "Appetite," or "Before I Met You," or "Lifetime."
WHOA THIS SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING LUTHER VANDROSS WOULD CROON OVER I LIKE THE OLD SKOOL FEEL OF IT,USHER BRINGING OUT THE SLOW RNB TO APPEAL TO THE LADIES LETS SEE IF THIS SINGLE CAN HELP PUSH IT TO PLATINUM STATUS,THIS IS SOMETHING I WOULD PUT ON JUST BEFORE I HIT THE SACK..
I personally liked his album for the most part, it had some duds, but I didn't think it would flop for Usher's standards. Then again when was the last time you bought a CD? This song was a very good move for him. A smooth ballad with a old school melody. I personally think this one can be played with any of his other past hits. No telling if this song goes down in history as a classic, but I can see this played a weddings for years to come.
Undoubtedly a solid R&B song...I've been anxious to see what other singles Usher would put out from the album. The chorus is fire and the vocals are really strong. He does his thing on here, you gotta give it up to Usher for still being at the top of his competition...HINT TO EVERYONE!!!: If you own this CD, skip to the 6 minute mark of this song and you will hear a hidden track called 'Will Work For Love' That, to me, is the hottest song on the album and its crazy how its just a hidden track that no one knows about.
Great strategy to release dual singles; Trading Places will appeal to Rhythmic radio and Here I Stand will cater more towards Urban AC. Jive, you did well. Nice selection.
I don't like this song at all. The production is on point and Usher does his thing as always, but the song itself isn't that good to me! I almost hate r&b ballads like this, guess it's not my type. I fall asleep listening to this
I admit, I was very vocal about not liking ANY of Usher's new style joints and stuff. When he dropped the new CD, I became a hardcore Ne-Yo fan. LOL. BUT THIS RIGHT HERE! This is some authentic R&B. I'm back on the bandwagon homey! This the title track too? I agree DZADVOCATE. The first person I thought about was Luther when I first heard the song come on. This is some smooth, old school R&B. Any activity eh Burmy? LOL. I know the perfect activity this could be the soundtrack to.
this was okay but I dont know why he didnt release 'Will Work For Love'? it's hot I dropped it in a mix. this one is okay thought but its pretty average!
