Uncle Murda - Warning
Producer: Tuneheadz
Album: Warning Mixtape
Label: Gettin' Money Gangstaz
Thinking of trying to get between Uncle M and his paper? Think again. Though the man’s stage name should be Warning enough (the “M,” of course, stands for “Murda”), those still fixing to step to the Brooklyn vet should take a listen to his latest single/mixtape title track before making any rash decisions. The Tuneheadz go literal on the production tip, layering air-raid sirens over syncopated percussion and A Milli-style sampled jabbering as the rapper deploy just about every conceivable variation on the on the “I’ma f*ck you up” theme – from the bold and direct (“I ain’t playin, I ain’t playin’, I smack the sh*t out a hater”), to the analogical (“I’m N.W.A., you rappers Chico DeBarge), to the retrospective (“The opposition dead, light up a candle.”). I’d inquire as to whether Uncle Murda bodied this one, but at this point I feel like it would be totally redundant. Instead, I’ll put it this way: if you think “they should take this beat and make a rest-in-peace shirt of it,” then keep it locked for further details on Murda’s Warning mixtape, scheduled to hit the ‘net sometime “in the next couple weeks.”

The beat was really hot. I would like to see someone like Busta Rhymes on this instead. Not bad. I like the gritty-ness of his delivery, just not a fan of his wordplay. It was just Okay. Beat Crazy!

Shout out to the Tuneheadz, who murdered (ha) the beat. I doubt any emcee wouldn't sound awesome over that production backdrop. Murda is his usual self, though, so if he don't really like his vocals or his rhyme style there is much to be desired.

Incredible production, this beat absolutely bangs. The lyrics are a little boring, I get sick about hearing about money, but he has some clever lines. This track is kinda off the wall and unique, Murda's flow especially, but I think it works for him.

As soon as I heard the 'prison sirens', the 'annoying beat' and the first line being 'I get money, I get money'. I switched it off.

Sometimes all you need is production, then the rapper kinda becomes background noise. That's why this song gets a higher rating...3.5
-.5 for the Lebron/Cleveland refernce... |
