Uffie - ADD SUV
Artist: Uffie
Featuring: Pharrell Williams
Producer: Mirwais
Album: Sex, Dreams & Denim Jeans
Label: Ed Banger
ADD SUV, the second single off Booth newcomer Uffie‘s forthcoming debut set, may sound like a hedonistic, electro-informed dancefloor-scorcher, but in reality there’s more to it than meets the ear: those who listen closer will find that the lyrics the Parisian rapper/singer robotically intones over frequent Madonna collaborator Mirwais‘glossy synth backdrop are actually a mordant commentary on… uh, I’m not exactly sure. While it seems very likely that Uffie’s talk of behavioral disorders and gas-guzzling automobiles is intended as a satire of American culture, the message isn’t all that clear; in any case, the record’s club appeal should have most listeners grooving too hard to read too far into it. Topped off with the disoriented yet fresh guest bars of a well-cast Pharrell Williams, this track and much more can be found on Uffie’s forthcoming Sex, Dreams & Denim Jeans LP, due out May 31 via Ed Banger.

I like the beat, although it's nothing special. I dig the club-ready bass, and the synth strings present in many modern songs make an appearance once again, this time forming the backbone of the beat.
I wasn't expecting the creepy-soulless-robot-girl singing. It was a big put-off for me. I tend to avoid that kind of vocalization. Pharrell's verse had a *little* more personality, though he was also monotone for the most part. The vocals overall are a little flat, and they just can't compare to a real singer or a dedicated rapper. It's on repeat because of the catchy, club-ready beat that doesn't let up. Minus two for the vocals though. Try it out, though I warn you that this is pretty much I-Robot: The Song-entertaining at best but not very memorable. |

Radio hit for sure! I love the technoish production and her Robo voice is interesting. Something reminds me of Ke$ha though with Uffie...except Uffie is a little more dull. Pharrell actually impressed me on here because he actually rapped instead of doing the hook to the song like in Game's recent single. I liked the beat and if this would have been just a Pharrell track it would have made me actually want to hear it again...but unfortunately I can't jam out to the Uffie

This is riding off of the Pharrell brand. The hollow vocal is further muzzled by the robot filter. There is no build. No suspense. This is background noise at best when I am talking to a real girl.

grimm yea most def shes cute and her flow is intresting its nice and kinda cool i like her transfor into lines but people arent gonna like this new approach they did with her voice. wow this song sounds so much like the black eyed peas which would help this song in the ears of many but great production im loving that beat, it follows the lyrics well and compliments the transition within the lyrics 3 spins song is epic imma listen too it again !!! |

I'm confused about exactly what's going on here, but on a purely superficial level, it's rotation-worthy for sure.
I don't like Pharrell on it at all, but I can't think of who could have done a better job with a blend of sounds like that. |

Man, how good is it to hear Pharrell rapping like that again? Seriously, can he do an entire album sounding that infectiously ferocious on the mic? Let me make a call and find out.
Uffie isn't my cup of tea, but her sound should resonate in the clubs (here or overseas). |

Agree with most of what's been said so far. Pharell's vocals were mostly flat, Uffie is cute but I can't say that I'm a big fan of the vocals. I think it would be good at a club, but I wouldn't put it on my ipod. 2.5 rounded up.

the beat is cool for the most part, def a club banger if mixed in for a short bit of a set but i cant stand the vocals on the chorus.

Pharrell's verse over the production was solid. The best verse ive heard from him in some time. Uffie sounds alright and the production (while a little odd) was nice. I cant see this song bein a hit on the radio, especially considering it sounds like a few car add's that are on tv currently

Haha damn, I think I am in love cause Uffie is adorable. This is something different that's for sure. I like it though.
Pharrell really surprised me with that verse he spit. This production is really unique, in a good way. If I was at the club and this came on, and I had a couple drinks in me, I think I might just go crazy. Seriously though, Uffie deserves props. First track I've heard from her, but I'll definitely be on the look out. Best part about this song was Pharrell . 3.5 |

I like the robo voice for like 10 seconds then it gets old for me. Plain and simple, just not my jam. However it isn't horrible from a musical aspect.

WTF is wrong with the beat? Sometimes "another song" comes out of nowhere and crashes everything around, leaving a solid, alternative banger, barely holding an "Ok" status.
Pharrel was great! First rapper to mention one of my favorite movies, "Memento". =) |

I wasn't jammin when LOL Smiley :) came on my radio, I was slightly more favorable of Usher's OMG but not by much. Due to the booth I heard Luda's Sexting song which I disliked a just as much but it most definitely trumps ADD SUV. I was thinking this would be another story telling Ke$ha while just listening to the first twenty seconds but as the song progressed I was left completely lost.
I'm not sure if this song is supposed to be taken seriously and for that I can see a bar full of Westchester Girls bopping in unison drunk going back and forth between ADD and SUV. Alcohol induced dance/electronic listeners would appreciate this song with little look into the actual lyrics. And for that it'll be in rotation... |

This is not good at all. Well that might be a little harsh, but I just didn't like it. If the whole thing was like Pharrel's first verse with the beat the way it was, it'd definitely be a banger for me.

What I mean is what @The 149th said, it would have definitely been good if it was just Pharrel.

As much as this may tear the clubs up I ain't really feeling it although like Z mentioned it's good to hear Skateboard P spittin' as opposed to "singing" (if that's what you call it lol)

This is not really my style just a bit too alternative. I think emo's love this stuff when they're dancin around all spaced in some strange club. I like Pharrell on the track, he should have saved his part for a different song.

Somehow I can get down with this synth-tastic production but Uffie, lets say I wouldn't mind hearing her voice (or lack of)... never again! Pharell's verse is the best part of the song (how often do you hear anyone saying that). Luckily for her (not so luckily for us), the clubs have awful taste in Eurodance, so it will probably be a hit.

Liked the production, but Uffie's vocals need some work, because it sounded unproffesional at best, and completely wack at worst.

I want to hear the lyrics but my brain keeps getting interupted by the monster truck background. I appreciate the club theme and of course the amazing stylings of P.rell made me listen to the end but not again, that background is makin me stupid (and not stupid fresh)

Seems just like a young Madonna. It is very unclear of the the meaning she puts towards this song, and to understand the lyrics of hers through this beat is quite hard. Pharrell goes in on this and he was a little monotoned, but it is still hot. The club-readiness of this song is clearly there. She needs a bit of work because her voice can't be heard over the synths.

Definitely radio bound. I like the purity of her voice, though not sure what she was saying completely. Pharrell's cameo was ahight. I would have rather had Skate Board P's Production on it to get that straight off the wall concept. But as was said earlier it is kinda like a madonna or britney track.

Could have done without the intro, definitely something that I would hate even more if the volume was turned up all the way.
O god, this is not good. I had a lot of hope for this track. I am a sucker for great production but it really is overshadowed by the terrible electo-voiced lines by Uffie. I love when club bangers incorporate an electro vibe in them, but this is just awful. I mean the production isn't anything special and Uffie literally kills the track (in a bad way). The only redeeming quality to this track is Pharrell. I mean at least I can understand what the hell he is saying and it makes (some) sense. Maybe if this was just a Pharrell driven song I could stand it, hell if it was anyone that wasn't using that damn synthed-voice I could probably stand it. But the track had no chance with that on it, giving it two stars just because of Pharrell. |

Definitely a club beat. Not really into the robotish vocals. Pharell's rapping is NICE. Haven't heard from him in a while. This will probably do well in the clubs, but its not for me

I must admit, Uffie is sort of a "forbidden love" of mine. Her music is mesmerizing in a "tickling the part of me that thinks Trace Adkins is sexy" type of way.
Like this? Want something even more droning from her? Google "Pop The Glock"... Seriously |
