Looks like U-N-I share more than a penchant for mysterious-sounding piano samples (see Fried Chicken and Watermelon cut K.R.E.A.M) with the Wu-Tang Clan; on this new promo single, the Los Angeles twosome reveal their fondness for chess (and chess-related metaphors) as they detail their arduous journey to The Land of the Kings. Ro Blvd‘s driving, piano-and-electric guitar instrumental is more pop than the mellow, jazzy boardwork we’ve heard on many of the twosome’s previous features, but it’s still got loads of left-of center style, and a spectacularly catchy hook to boot. The dense, poetically allusive verses in which Thurzday and Y.O. detail their sky-high ambitions offer plenty of quotables—the former’s ‘when pigs fly/swine flu’ line is my personal favorite (I’ve been waiting for a rapper to make that pun since news of the epidemic first broke). Though U-N-I are already shining brighter than most, there’s no question their future will be even sunnier. Thats kinda funny that this was featured today. I was compilating my Summer Jams playlist earlier and "Beautiful" from UNI was right at the top of it...
As for this track, not as classic as "beautiful" for me. I don't think I've rated any of their tracks less than rotation, but this one falls just short for me (2.5) Their flows are nice, as always, but I just can't get wit this production or hook. I really just didn't like their flows over this particular production, it sounded off. I know they can do MUCH better. |

im not really feelin the beat. maybe if that, and the hook change, it can go in rotation. |

A lot of people probably wont feel this because it is different from their usual sound. Every now and then its not bad to get a mainstream U-N-I song because this shows their versatility. This track has been getting mad plays recently. The production is dope and the catchy hook is the type to be stuck in your head for a while. The lyrics are on point as well...not quite a classic but thier music is always banging!

I actually liked this. It was pretty catchy. Overall it was a solid track. I know they can do better but I had nothing against the song.

Hey everyone. I've profited off of the DJ Booth for a long time now, impressing many a lady with my fine selection of records just weeks away from being on the radio and completely ubiquitous. It's finally time to give back. So here I am.
I'd swear Chris Martin produced this. All it needs is a U2-esque riff over the hook. But personally, I felt it. Thick verses, great hook, fun production. |

U-N-I went a little off course with this one. They need to come with that original freshness. The energy was pretty on point here, but that was about it. 3 star worthy, but I'd hate to see them digress this quick.

Seems like everyone is all over the board with their ratings for LAND OF THE KINGS. Ro Blvd changed up his sound on the production tip here, I think that is what is throwing everyone off. Same ol' U-N-I, though.

I've been a fan of U-N-I for a while. Real cool dudes. They're the homies...but I really ain't feeling this that much. It might grow on me, cuz the production is dope and the hook is cool. I guess it's just a couple quirky parts that seem off that's playing with my ears.

Maybe it's my mood but I'm just finding this and the last 4 or 5 tracks mediocre and I've held off reviewing because it could just be me; but I don't think so bcuz the ratings are pretty much reflective of that same thing. All these artists just needs to kick back til memorial day and let the creative juices bubble until then and release a few bangerz and classic status tracks. I still haven't found a real summer anthem yet; what's going on?
