Despite winning the MTV VMA award for “Best Breakout LA Artist,” and being one of the more acclaimed groups featured in the Booth, Inglewood duo U-N-I remain unsigned. It does not appear, however, that will be the case for much longer; Thurzday and Y-O are both set to appear on Hypebeast and Hypetrak Magazines’ new mixtape (hosted by DJ Mick Boogie and producer Judah), Hype Club. This new mixtape record finds the duo on a Hollywood Hiatus—cruising in a cool convertible, hollering at all the celebrity chicks, and brushing off all the haters with a thumbs-up. Producer Ro Bud, who samples New Edition’s Cool It Now off the top, retains the melody for his synth-heavy beat. While most of U-N-I’s music has been acclaimed, could Hollywood Hiatus (Cool It Now) be what finally rockets them to semi-stardom? Stay tuned…

I like the style from these cats. They have a trendy style that corporates into their music. Lil bit like Kidz in the Hall and Cool Kids, but nevertheless. The beat is pure fire and so damn catchy. Hard to believe these guys are unsigned! The chorus can definitely be improved upon to make the song a little more catchy and recognizable, but the flow on here is so right, caught me so off guard with this one but sh*t is hot! Banger!

This has such a creative hot beat! The lyrics are fresh and so is the message. Great production and the hook is dope! Everything about this song is classic! 4.5 stars for this hot song!

I like the beat and the verses from this group that I just found out about. Probably cause I don't watch the west like that. Anyway the hook lazy compared to the rest of the song.

WOW:), we usually don't get after the songs you like. It's the ones you DON'T like that we have trouble with.
Maybe if the way you stated them were more rational (HINT: try using a spell-checker), we would have more respect for them. Or then again, to paraphrase Ice Cube: "If you don't like well-thought-out music, don't get on there talking about well-thought-out music, because 9 times out of 10 you don't know what the f**k you're talking about." |

Uni is dope but this production is not really hittin for me. Sample is good. But that backwards song play sound is annoying. I wonder if I play this backwards will I get a hidden message?

I remember when these guys used to stroll around the streets of LA and showed random pedestrians their songs off an iPod. They've come such a long way since then and I'm glad they haven't stopped making moves. DOPE record.

I've been on these guys since I saw the video from K.R.E.A.M a year and a half ago. Thurzday said he liked the joints...anyways...I dig this joint. But I'm really a fan on "Soul Hop". I went nuts when I saw their video debut on MTV2 at 5am! These guys are just some of the leaders of the NU school (2009 and Beyond). As for WOW...no hate here girl. I think your comebacks are sounding more and more intelligent every time and everyone still hating on you is sounding stupider. When you give reasons why you don't dig something rather than just saying it's wack...I can respect that. So props! With that being said...this is a good joint, BUT, not the greatest joint in the world and not even the greatest U-N-I track.
