After giving Tynethys‘s debut Booth feature a couple spins, I’m still not sure what the titular acronym stands for. But you know what? I’m not worried about it. In fact, I’m not worried about anything; EP single TFZ is as dreamy and relaxing as a bubble bath on Valium. Here, the Sacramento singer/emcee/producer showcases two-thirds of his skillset, transitioning fluidly between soulful crooning and agile flows as he celebrates his unique approach to urban music. As he puts it on the hook, “I don’t even rap, I art.” Friendzone mans the mixing boards, layering airy synths over syncopated drums to create a groove that’s invigorating, yet eminently mellow. Like what you’re hearing? More awaits on Tyne’s Thyluxe LP, set to drop April 22, via FHOD Records.
