Tyler, The Creator - She
Featuring: Frank Ocean
Producer: Tyler The Creator
Album: Goblin
Label: XL/Odd Future Records
Can we all take a moment and appreciate the fact that one of today’s most-buzzed-about artists is a 20-year-old hip-hop Svengali who spits about rape and murder in a satanic growl, while dressed like a kid who just got home from summer camp? The future is now, my friends – and it certainly is odd. With Tyler, the Creator‘s sophomore set a day from release, it’s high time we jumped on the obscenely talented (and just plain obscene) L.A. native’s bandwagon, and single She provides the perfect opportunity. Over his own plodding percussion and woozy synth drones, the gravelly-voiced upstart details a series of unhinged fantasies about a girl who just became his next door neighbor. Though opened with a bloody, action-movie style vignette, the narrative ultimately fizzles into ambiguity; by the end, the emcee’s not sure whether he wants to sit down for a heart-to-heart, or simply have his way with the chick’s lifeless body. Odd Future’s resident crooner, Frank Ocean, ties the whole odd package together with some steamy chorus vocals. So, readers is Tyler’s first Booth feature – wait for it – swag? Then don’t miss Tyler’s Goblin LP, when it drops tomorrow, May 10.

At first I was turned off by Tyler's attitude, style, and odd (pun intended) appeal. After listening to more of his music, however, that (wrong) first impression changed.

I applaud his uniqueness but you can't tell people you want fame and confine yourself with your lyrics to this degree at the same time

A lot of my friends are all over Tyler and his music, but it hards for me to jump on his band wagon. His voice and flow are different, as well as his lyrics, but at the end of the day, I couldn't really find myself vibing to him like so many others. Frank Ocean, on the other hand, is a smooth sounding guy who I could really enjoy. "She" isn't a failure, it just really doesn't appeal to me is all. Nice effort, though.

One of my favorite tracks off the album, which i also thought was really dope. I love Odd Future and everything they do, because its so different. Lyrically, Tyler is always saying something crazy, and this is still pretty crazy but normal-ish for him. Frank Ocean also makes some really good hooks, and the beat is real nice too.

This makes no sense to me. Like he was just in the studio and saying stuff with music playing, but wasn't really planning on recording it...

It's hard for me to judge him off of one song. I can tell he has a really unique sound, but I'm not sure it works. It is definitely interesting, but I need to hear more from him before I make a judgement. This track is ok, nothing special, but really unique.

I don't F*ck with Odd Future or Tyler The Creator. I'm not saying that they don't have a few goods songs but overall I don't like this guy's music.

this is strange and very uncomfortable, but is definitely something fresh that I've never heard before in hiphop scene. I'll give it 4 stars just for creativity.

Frank makes this song. I'm digging Tyler's production, not his mic work...
