On Wednesday evening, Tyga opened up for Lil’ Wayne on the Chicago stop of his Carter III promotional tour. Though his set only included four songs, all of which were from his recently-released debut, No Introduction, the crowd was hype during the entire twenty minutes he performed. On I Am, a song that didn’t make the official album but managed to get squeezed in as an iTunes bonus track, Tyga and his mentor Wayne discuss what they are, as well as what they could be. Unlike any artist who has featured Weezy on a track before him, the California-bred rookie spits the line “I am what I am, to a fan I am him… a legend I am.” It seems like Wayne has found himself the perfect artist for Young Money Entertainment.
I actually kinda like the production/beat on here. It is definitely different. He flows nicely on the beat. I really like Lil' Wayne's flow on here! He Kills it! Another Certified DJ BLAZE BANGER!!!
Wow i am feelin this. This beat is hot. Tyga does his thing here. Im just wondering why this isnt on the real album not just itunes bonus track. Hook is hot I am what iam, welcome to a sound. Weezy has a really good verse also.
The production on this song is sick. Question: If you are in good with Weezy, why does a song like this not make the album? How is this ONLY an iTunes bonus track? I need to re-interview Tyga and ask him who came up with the final track list. I see you Blaze... this is hot.
I agree with my man Z, this should have def been on the album, probably the 2nd single. This beat is sick, I'm feelin it...wouldn't say its a banger, but Wayne and Tyga flow well on this
Yeah feeling the beat alot. Best song today. But yeah WOW!! im sick of Lil Wayne. hes on every song in the world 2 songs yesterday 1 today and the next 8 songs that djbooth puts up he will be on 7 of them. Geeze. 3.5
This is 100% pure bull$#!+!, I am what I am, This aint the jam, He's as wack as CAM, Green Eggs and Ham! Oh My God! what happened to Hip-Hop! These rappers now-a-daze aint sayin' @*#$!! I am am so glad that I grew up in the 80's and 90's with REAL HIP-HOP We are living in a Crack-Baby Generation as far as music is concerned 90% percent of stuff out here is pure GARBAGE (Nobody is ORIGINAL anymore) I am going to do a flow, Here I go, MAKE IT RAIN, POP BOTTLES, G4 JETS, MY BENTLEY, CHECK OUT MY ICE, Don't Step on my J's, Big Booty bitches, I'mma get tatted up, Movin them keys, I'm in the club, Bout to get Blunted, Check out my Glock, Got the Ice in my Grill, - Is this all that hip-hop has to offer now-daze! I truly do feel sorry for the kids that are coming up on this bull$#!+! Also does Lil' Wayne mention in any of his songs that he has a college degree, Along with many other rappers!
Damn you hatin That-1-DJ!! Sure I dont like every song that I hear but I think more then 10% percent of it is good and not garbage. I actually like todays music more then back in the day because the beats are better. Again i dont really care for lyrics when im listening to a song I just listen for the beat.
well true music lovers listen for the artists creativity and input...beats are to be where they are...in the background...but to feel a beat is to also feel the vibe the artist recieved from the beat...which is why now-a-days alot of artist are talkin about tha same things...but in different ways...and its hard to talk about somethin else when almost everything virtually has been talkd about...but this song is one of those that should have been a bonus track...its ok...even wit weezy f...~
SAM & Sluggo came through with a nice production. Beat is how we say Ummmmmmah!!! Fricken excellante. The flow is catchy cool with composure. Ima throw my hat in for this one. Keep it comming DJ Booth. Keep it commin.
I'm feelin the production, which was decent, but Tyga flows well on this. He got some good vocal presence on this compared to the other tracks on the album, which are different from his flow on this. Wayne drops a solid appearance and this woulda been a solid second single.
Finally some interesting discussion. You are all right at some point, and some not. To star it all, it’s pretty void to say someone is “hating” just cuz they don’t like something: as long as you say why, it’s perfectly acceptable and not considered hate. That’s what That-1-DJ did and he was pretty right, only maybe he exceeded the percentage (which is still pretty damn HIGH, maybe 80%! You must acknowledge there are thousands of rappers cuz it requires ZERO TALENT to be in the game today. I consider anything from Young Berg to Young Joc dispensable, so you can imagine what I’d say about Shawty Lo or Soulja Boy… no matter how many Kanyes and Lupes there is, the percentage is high.). AEO’s right about the creativity with lyrics, it’s vital in the hip hop genre. But then again, it’s also true that lyrics can’t make a song on their own and that today’s music is better concerning the beats (which can make a song!).
I don’t like the chorus’s flow! It’s noisy and shallow! But I like Tyga, (he’s not on the overwhelming garbage section of hip hop) he’s smart and creative with his material. The beat is the best part on this! I’d rather hear it with Rick Ross or T.I, even Jeezy. If y’all aint feelin Tyga yet, look for “Thinkin of you”, featuring Lil Wayne.
The problem of this song is that it's well-produced, the music is great but I don't like Tyga, it should have been sung by another artist in my opinion...it's a real pity!!
another track feat. Lil Wayne? nope, sorry. gotta be strict with my passion for hating. I am not hating on Wayne actually, I am hating on all these suckers featuring him
Song's got a nice beat...That-1-DJ..there's a lotta good stuff out there, nowadays you just gotta search harder. you listen to what's underground and you get the flavor you liked from back in the day
The hook got old to me and I've only listened to it once. It's not a bad song, but it's a song that is going to get old quick. I couldn't listen to this more than 5 more times without being sick of it, so it can't be in rotatin. It's OK.
That-1-Dj lmao. Well put! This doesn't sound good to me. I don't like the rythem of the flow. This beat doesn't work for ya boy either. This is Trash! Weezy couldn't save this.
Ok sorry FredRico I couldent comment to you faster we share the computer in this house so you only get so much time on it but anyway on the song thinkin of you when I tried downloading it it kept sayin error with file so I had to download different files of of that song to find one that works and I eventually did and it is kinda hot a 3.5ish song. But Lil Wayne does a better job on that song then this.
wow. tyga suprised me with this. this shoulda made the album. wayne's vere was disapointing. tyga outshined him. the hook is mediocre but still a straight song.
why does everyone keep saying weezy couldnt save this of course he couldnt he sucks I Think he is so annoying and his lyrics make no sense....everyone just likes him because he is "the @*#$!" not because he is good...call me a hater if you want but I think he is annoying...
ya know, I been tryin hard not to dis other people's opinions on this forum cause I've found- especially if you read more than one of their posts- that you can understand someone's point of view and it usually makes sense whether I agree or not. But dude, That-1-DJ, I just don't see what you're sayin. "no one's original anymore"? Man even back then people were stealin other people's @*#$! all the time. Or do you not remember NWA or Snoop or Pac or Biggie constantly sampling Parliament or old Motown? Are you saying that Easy E's verse about attempting to rape a trannie was socially relevant? What's Sugar Hill Gang's music about? And there were just as many crappy rappers back then- The Fat Boys, 3rd Base, etc- back then as there are now they just didn't have the exposure because there was no internet. Yes the crap these days is REALLY crappy, but the best stuff is REALLY good. It is what it is, don't judge it by yesterday's so-called standards.
Yap, i feel the same way Matt, Wayne did a way better job on “thinking of you”, that’s why I expected this song to be better. Turned out they’re not the wonder duo I thought they were, that was just one good song.
